I wonder if in next decades the trends will go back to build walls to separate spaces, and all these programs are "so many open spaces are a waste of space, let´s have a room for every different activity"
@sunshineallover6

I've totally wondered this too! And especially now with whole families being stuck quarantined in the same house - separate spaces are precious! haha
@CheezusTO
@CheezusTO 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe... Open spaces are good in bringing natural light in so it’s fitting for a small place. But it’s not environmentally friendly since it consumes much more energy to heat up/cool down a big open space. I think open space should be reserved for smaller houses/apartments. It would be on trend as our generation is more indebted, I.e. can only afford smaller houses, and we’re also more environmentally conscious.

If you want to see real Karens watch a few episodes of "House Hunters" and you'll get your fill of them. A woman can recognize when another woman is in the early stages of pregnancies. It's a beautiful house. Especially the front. In the beginning of the video I caught a glimpse of a small, shabby house on the other side of the street. This may indicate that the couple will be unable to sell their house for a price high enough to get back the money they've put into it. I've read this has been a problem with other homes that Chip and Joanna have remodeled. The rule of thumb is to never buy the biggest, most expensive house in the neighborhood. It's smarter to buy the smallest, least expensive house in the neighborhood because the bigger ones help the smaller one to appreciate more.

The new house after renovation is beautiful, but I liked the charm of the old house. If it were mine I'd just do a fresh coat of paint and leave the rest be. The old round windows were beautiful, I was very sorry to see them gone and every curve of the house was replaced with straight linear lines. Maybe that's why the house lost its charm.

"Take out the arched windows, give it a streamlined look ...." Taking out the beautiful arched windows makes it look like every other modern cookie cutter house. Couldn't believe they would do that. The outside of the house does look much better, and I like opening up the foyer so the light comes through. Cringed again at taking out beautiful flowing banisters and giving it metal railings that look like its from a jail. Some style is not outdated.

No, they only get to keep a few of the pieces in this show, most is just for staging.

I know you often paint the brick, which looks lovely, but at least in our Ontario climate that is a permanent commitment to expensive repainting every few years.

Some interesting changes. However, the stone cladding around the fireplace is going to look dated soon. I remember the style being popular in the late 1960's and early 1970's. After a while it will get that 'daggy' feel to it - like the family rooms of sitcoms of that era. "Married with children" comes to mind.
