Reduced rest 3 times a week.Finish 19.00 drive home shower shxt an shave 20.30 bed.02.45 Wake up Cuppa then drive back to put your card in at 04.00.…3 times a week you can do that.Wont make 55.Just a plaque at the cemetery

It’s a real problem drivers fatigue. I’ve felt like my eyes were forcing themselves shut and I’ve had to fight it somehow to keep them open. It’s terrifying. I think regulations should be amended so we can’t drive for as long. But then obviously our pay will decrease. We can’t win. It often feels like we’re backed into a corner with no option but to continue driving. But if you are fatigued, always stop as soon as it’s safe to do so. Like you said, better late than never. Most HGV firms dont give a shit about HGV drivers fatigue, long hours. Not like the transport office staff 8 hour shifts, work partys, bonus pay, birthday treats from management. Etc

Yeah i guess there are alot out there, although some firms like mine are pretty good at understanding it.

Different start times is another thing that leads to fatigue. I can get it when there's 6h gap for start time but not 15h like it used to be for me.

Yeah that can really mess you up! The worst is a late finish and early star tge next day.

After nearly 30 years tramping just semi-retired 6 weeks ago. Doing 2 nights trunking or hub work. One of the main things is keep lubricated. Water, flavoured water or fruit squash really helps. When tired you can never fight tiredness. You got to stop for half hour or a 45. Don't worry you will never ever be sacked. Imagine you did have the sack think about the compensation you could have for unfair dismissal. Seriously though, think about the consequences, driving tired. Not only your life is at risk, other road users too. Agree also pop out stretch your legs breath in fresh air. Also keep your cab aired not like a sauna, unbreathable. Sleep and rest is mega important.

@@truckitprayle im enjoying the 4 days rota but i feel abit out of tune with reality because i work alot of weekends so i miss time with the kids when they are off school .also working bank holidays .but then there is pros such as how ive just taken 4 days off which means i had 12 days off so yeah ...

Don't fight tiredness, pull over and have a quick break whether that be a stretch of legs or even a 20 minute nap. Any Employer that's got a problem with that is either planning you wrong or just doesn't care.. Your life is worth more than a few extra pounds in the bank at the end of the week.

Drivers hated tachographs when they first came in but most if not all Drivers accept they are a good thing to prevent exploitation by dodgy employers, over in the states and Australia they use log books and pay by the mile and those Drivers are worked into the ground, both those places have a serious problem with drugged up Drivers falling asleep at the wheel, but fatigue is a big issue here in the UK worked back to back 15 hour shifts with only 9 hours off is dangerous along with working up to 17 days between full weekly rest etc etc, the hours need an overhaul to bring them into the modern era to appreciate what today's Drivers put up with such as gridlocked roads unsuitable or non existent parking etc which all increases fatigue along with modern rotas in which a lot of companies work Drivers to the max

Yeah i had a friend in Australia and he would often do 17 hours a day interstate, but they also do get alot better money than we do here.
