Hello everyone and happy new year!
This year will be an exciting year for every scale modeler. And I think I don't have to tell you why.
But I'm starting this year with a special build dedicated to my brother-in-law.
He worked for a long time and served in the Navy as a mechanic for some aircrafts and helicopters like this Rescue Hawk.
His squadron, HSC-84 Red Wolves. I chose one of them.
I tried to be as accurate as possible. Do you think I nailed it? Let me know!
And I know. It's still not the perfect conversion you saw, but I'm still in my own learning process.
However. I hope you'll like it!
Enyoj the build and I'm happy about every advice and your feedback.
Cheers,
David

To fix your problem with sharp edges around your window frames, take your toothpick/cocktail stick and an exacto-knife, flatten one side of the toothpick into the shape of a chisel. Use it like you would a chisel and scrape the paint away on your windows until you get a nice clean canopy edge. Good looking build.

Thanks for your comment and this advice! Maybe I try it to fix that for this kit. 🤘🏼

Another idea to fix it: masking tape instead of liquid mask. Its almost impossible, to achieve straight lines, with liquid masking.

Cause of that I bought masking tape from Eduard for my next project!

Great job!! I’m new to building so I was curious why you chose decals for the rivets instead of panel line paint? Excited to build a Blackhawk soon, I just did a Huey. Nice build and details.

@@myplasticprojects I served with them from '06 - '10 and they truly were some of the finest. The maintainers could turn a bird around quicker than anyone, bar none, I'd have put them up against any squadron anywhere in any branch of the service... The pilots and air crew were the finest insertion and extraction/ close aerial combat support operatives in the entirety of the U.S. Navy; they could match the speed of a speeding boat and insert SEALS and EOD like it was nothin', they could go into hot zones and maneuver that helo so as to not even take a bullet, they could dam near make that HH-60 stand up and do the boogaloo. Each and every guy and gal at that squadron was someone you were proud to crack open a beer with, and every single person there had training and experience beyond that of what their peers of equal rate & rank had in the Navy. We worked harder than any squadron on the block and it showed when we would have a jam-packed full parking lot on days that all other squadrons had off. Once you were done bein' a wolf you were ready for whatever the service had to throw at you, and they earned every single color they sported on their chest... There were no bullsh*t medals handed out in this squadron, not one. We didn't lobby ourselves for valorous medals and decorations we did not thoroughly earn... I know of veteran buddies that have Presidential Unit Citations for nothing more than coming under fire once or twice while on a convoy and keeping their wits about them while acting accordingly, these guys, the wolves, they got one single Naval Unit Commendation for 10 consecutive years in Iraq, 746 HVT's captured, zero combat casualties, multiple acts of sustained valor, multiple times coming under heavy fire, and dam flawless deployment conduct... When people watch a movie like "Black Hawk Down" they think "Man, these guys were really awesome," but our wolves made them look like amateurs, no joke... Every Navy cross, silver star, bronze star for valor, distinguished flying cross, aerial combat strike medal, commendation and achievement medal was earned 5-fold at that squadron. We didn't wear or salute rank in Iraq, we didn't wear Kevlar 90% of the time, and when questioned by officers from other branches we just said that we were a part of the CJSOAC and they would leave us alone and walk away... HSC-84 Red Wolves & our sister squadron HSC-85 Firehawks (formerly HCS-4 & HCS-5) were for all intents and purposes ghosts, poltergeists, no one except absolute need-to-know-personnel and whatever small SEAL and/or EOD team we were working with knew what our mission was on any given day. We were given a mission, it was relayed swiftly and secretly, we were in, we were out, and we were having chow by the time anyone figured out what happened... I was probably one of the lowest men on the "totem pole" at this squadron to be honest, but I am still proud to have served with what were literally the finest of the finest... Any Navy SEAL or EOD member that ever trained at DEVGRU on Little Creek Amphibious Base in Virginia from 1967 - 2016 should know who these guys were, other than that virtually no one knows who they were and that says it all right there...

@myplasticprojects
@myplasticprojects 6 ай бұрын
Hm, I would say it is an easy kit with simple details. I think its up to you where you live. If your hobby stores have photo etched parts for exactly this kit, I would say, go for it. But I think I would prefer a higher scale more than this kit now. If you love details, and you don’t get this PE parts. Don’t take it. Hope this was helpful 🤘🏼 www.scalemates.com/de/kits/res-im-pe72048-hh-60h--624759
