The true story of the Osmond Family. I have been blessed in my lifetime to have personally known Mr. George Virl Osmond and Mrs. Olive Davis Osmond, and to have been an honored guests in their home. I have also been blessed to meet Alan, Wayne, Merril, Jay, and Jimmy Osmond, as well as, 6 of Alan's boys - Michael, David, Scott, Jon, Alex, and Tyler.
I purchased this video from Mrs. Osmond several years ago and share it here as entertainment for all to enjoy and as a tribute to two of the greatest parents that I have ever know besides my own.

This is by far one of the best TV movies about the Osmonds I have ever seen! And Marie portrayal of her mother was absolutely amazing and gorgeous!
@obscurelyvague
@obscurelyvague Жыл бұрын
"Kelleymarie Jones" I don't know enough about how the real Olive Osmond was in real life but Marie Osmond's portrayal is embellished and Marie was made to have more a glamorous and dainty look .Mrs. Osmond was actually a woman of the 1940s and had a rugged and robust country woman look to her.
@cristineconnell7803
@cristineconnell7803 11 ай бұрын
@@obscurelyvaguebut even rugged robust women of the 40s didn't go out in public without their "go to town" clothes, hair do & lipstick! My Mom & grandma were those woman! One of my grandma's grew up & had her brood in 1 room cabins, made the bread & meals, then we all went fishing!❤ But she was also the towns Avon lady & fixed up for "going to town" or dealing with the public! So Marie showing her Mom put together was a part of how they lived! Often regardless of income or class! They didn't waste time watch TV all night & having their face in screens all day! They actually worked & cared about their appearance! ❤ MY Mom can hunt, butcher the deer & cook it up, sew the most breathtaking wedding gowns & clothes, raise the babies, & still look put together! Frankly I don't know how they did it! Raising my brood I felt I often looked a mess with my hair flying! But Mom would say, where is your lipstick? 😂😂❤

Good for George and Olive for refusing to put their sons in an institution just for being deaf! Those two sure went above and beyond anyone's expectations for deaf children at the time.

My sister Mary had the “One Bad Apple” album when she was about 13 or 14. Around that time her best friend was moving to a different state and since they both loved Donny so much, my sister gave her friend the album as a keepsake to remember her by. Mary passed away last January with dementia at age 57. Up until the end she still loved Donny, and still remembered giving her album away. Rest In Peace my sweet sister. I miss you sooo much! ❤️🙏

Feb 7, 2020: Thanks for sharing this movie! I've watched it several times; a sweet story! My first boyfriend and the true love of my life, Sgt Manuel R. Martinez, 23, was killed in an auto accident on Aug 22, 1975 south of Santa Fe. Returning to Albuquerque from a long work week at the Farmington mines, he tragically rolled his 240Z Datsun. Manuel trained as a Marine at Camp Pendleton (radio operator), served a year in Okinawa and was a member of the VFW, Catholic Church & Carpenters Union. Still in high school, we exchanged letters often. By the time I graduated, I knew I had fallen in love with him. My mother never approved. Then....he was gone. Manuel graduated from West Mesa High School in 1970 and participated in track & field. Manuel's shy grin, warm heart, gentle spirit and strong work ethic were endearing traits to those of us who loved him. KATRINA

1:14:42 It seems useless to me that the dad made his boys apologize to each other. Unless it is within each of their hearts then they only did as they were told because they had to. They will only continue to feel the same resentment toward each other inside. I once had an argument with a doorman in the building where I work. He was rude to me. I told the doorman's supervisor about it who then said that he spoke with the doorman but he wants me and the doorman to shake hands and apologize to each other. I refused. I only agreed to avoid the doorman as much as possible so as to avoid conflict. The supervisor said that whoever refuses to shake hands and make up is the true coward and the person whose fault everything is. Heck I am far from being a juvenile and I must be 2 times the age of the doorman and I saw no reason to pretend when the doorman would only go back to being rude to me. Apologizing has to be heart felt, not some ritual so someone else can check a box and say the problem is solved.

What a beautiful movie. I grew up watching the Osmonds and loved them on The Andy Williams show. I'm between Donny & Jay in age and have always loved the whole family performing. God bless them all. I grew up in a family of only 2 children but had wonderful, loving parents and the way love is shared in a family is what is missing in today's world.. The Osmonds are a prime example of Love and caring for the most important thing in life,, FAMILY.

Teressa J the only decent fan club that I ever belonged to was the Osmond Family club, that they ran themselves. Olive wrote a column for the quarterly newsletter, about herself and the family. They’d go over all the fake magazine stories in the past months, and , revealingly, said that they were the only ones offering authentic stage costumes for contest prizes. I know a girl in Tiger Beat who would be royally irked to know that!

I met and had a great night with the Osmonds when they were at the Hotel Diplomat in Hollywood , Fla. Marie and Mr & Mrs Osmond by the front desk in the Cafe where the guys sang. Got a picture signed for my cousin. Mrs Osmond was kind enough to talk with me all evening . She took my address and phone number. Some weeks later she called...I was not home. BUT...Grandma said they had a wonderful long conversation. Said they traded a few good recipes. Said it was nice to talk to someone from the 'Old School' . That was one of two times I met the Osmonds. The Miami concert I met Mrs Osmond . I was pushed into the metal gate and got a bruise on my temple. Mrs O came right over and had to make sure I was ok. Grandma was there and said simply, "Once a Mom...always a Mom. Does not matter who's child it is."

Our parents are still “Side by Side” in Paradise awaiting us to join them. Our Spirit bodies never die but are pre-mortal children of God. Because my parents had their temple marriage ‘sealed in heaven as well as on earth, for time and for all eternity’, not ‘till death do you part’, they and we their children will be together forever! With God’s ‘Plan of life’ we can all return to our Heavenly Father and Mother again and live ‘Side by Side with them, too!

@mumsie2739

@@scootergurl48 Mormons are not Christians. They are considered a cult because they follow the Book of Mormon: another Testament of Jesus Christ, which contains the teachings of their founder, Joseph Smith. He claimed that an angel named Moroni appeared to him and gave him a new revelation, which the Mormons believe ranks higher than the Bible. Their Book of Mormon has been rewritten and altered many times from the original so-called "revelation." It contains some very strange teachings, including that Jesus and Satan (Lucifer) are brothers (both sons of God) from the planet Kolab. True Christians believe that the Holy Bible is the inerrant Word of God and our only authority. The Bible teaches that all humans are born into this world as sinners (enemies of God) and in need of a Savior from God's just punishment that we deserve. We cannot save ourselves by good works. Salvation is a gift given by God's grace alone though faith in Jesus Christ for God's glory.

@@mumsie2739 Mumsie Thank you for your interesting information. Much of what you said I already knew, but there were some things that you mentioned that I did not know, things that are very important in following Christianity and not some cult. I once had a boyfriend who was LDS and he took me to some of their Friday night dances. They were the nicest, most honest, and decent people you could ever know. Saddens me that this is their faith. The Osmonds are also good, kind, decent folks who, sadly, follow in this cult. A crying shame, isn't it? Joseph Smith's claims would not be something that would make me convert. Three Mormon young men came to my door once and asked me about my beliefs. I asked if they had a Book of Mormon that I could read and they left me one. I read it for about 5 minutes and thought what nonsense and never read it again.

Except for investing all that money. Not a cent while they were performing. If it wasn't for Donny and Marie in Las Vegas they would all be broke. With huge families. I don't know how i missed this when it first aired. It is pure goodness and testimony to God, faith and family !!!! Love all the Osmonds since I was old enough to know who they were, although like most preteen girls, Donny was, and still is, my favorite !!! Amazing movie of family's beginnings !!! I know that Mrs. Osmond loved all her children equally, but I have to imagine her thrill to finally get one little girl out of all the boys ! And did not know there were so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren ! Has it ever been documented online the ratio of girls to boys in the grands and great-grands ?? I believe boys tend to run a bit ahead in the numbers !!

Did you know when I (Alan) was born, my Mother Olive had an out of body experience? “She felt she was up near the ceiling and got mad that the doctor was slapping her face”! This is evidence that we are “two bodies: one of Spirit, a ‘child of God’, and one of flesh and bones, a child of our earthly parents! After we die physically, our Spirit goes to the Spirit world or Paradise, and after we are Resurrected, thanks to Jesus, we get our physical bodies back again, as good as new, and the “two bodies” are joined together again; never to be separated again! (I saw my parents in the Spirit world in a very vivid dream. They looked about 20 years old!!!) Alan
