C8 ZORA is getting a Manual Transmission.............?!

Jessi I love your videos but you need to get some advice on a good microphone. It’s difficult to understand you at times. I agree with you on the DCT. A manual transmission is old technology. Those pushing for it need to get over it. I love my C8 DCT ! Can’t beat it. Also statement s from C8 engineers said it wouldn’t fit in current C8. The last production C7 showed a very low order for a manual transmission. I can’t see GM spending millions to develop a manual C8 for a small number of orders. Remember the young drivers today don’t even know how to drive a manual car!! I have had a lot of manual cars and sport cars and I can tell you no way would I give up my DCT for a manual. It would be a giant leap backwards in technology. Just my thoughts. Keep up the great work. Dennis

Jesse, have you considered utilizing a simple condenser mic? We love the sound of the Z06, but the mic washes out when the revs are high and it is difficult to hear you speak. Keep up the great videos! ❤️

All 3 of my cars are manual. Fortunately, the power from 2 of my cars helps to make up from the difference from a quick shifting DCT. But say what you want, paddle shifting is no where as engaging as pressing the 3rd pedal and actually, manually shifting gear to gear. Paddle shifting, no where near the same.

Some people have no clue about shifting gears. If they have always relied on an automatic they have never developed any driver engine relationship.

So far everyone's prediction on these C8's have been wrong lol. People said the z06 would be twin turbo. Then people said the ZR1 could be a hybrid and now people are saying the ZORA will have a manual lol. Perhaps it is a 7 speed but a 7 speed PDK i would believe that instead of a manual. Because GM has listened to everyone on how the gearing in these C8's aren't good, so maybe they begged porsche to allow their almighty corvette to sail into the sunset as the grand daddy of C8's with a proper trans. The PDK.

I think you should say you prefer a dct over a manual 🤔 not that dct is better. Choices are there for ones preference. I drive a manuel because it's my preference 🤔

@jesse_iwuji if you read my comment , i didn't say dct is not faster than a manual🤔 my comment says you should say you prefer a dct, not that it's better than a manual. My e92 was dct, and now my late model m2 is manual ,and i prefer it to dct 🤔 it's an individual choice that decides whats better. Efficiency and effectiveness is another fact and dct wins.

I think you miss the point of a manual, it’s not about being the fastest it’s about engagement and doing something (shifting) faster doesn’t inherently make it more engaging. To make it simple as possible real drivers prefer manuals because it’s more involving, you control the car instead of a computer doing the work for you. Let’s be honest your grandma can drive a DCT fast it doesn’t take any driver talent, again another reason real drivers prefer manuals it’s about having the talent to do something a 6 year old or 96 year old can’t do. If all you want is speed then take a DCT but for drivers like myself we prefer our food grilled over microwaved, microwave is faster but grilled ALWAYS tastes better.

The only extra thing you do in a normal manual over DCT is use the clutch…I race in NASCAR and we use a 4 speed dog box…no clutch needed after you get going…so all we are doing is moving the shifter into different gears on up shifts, and match reving on down shifts…but once again not using the clutch to do any of it…so what’s the difference between the lever into gear or clicking a paddle into gear?

When you are born in the PlayStation generation it’s expected that all you value is speed, OGs like myself value talent over speed and driving stick takes talent, it’s a generational thing this gen wants everything asap older gens appreciate waiting if it gives you something superior which is ultimately the added driver control a stick gives over a auto or DCT. It should not get a manual. General Motors manuals are horrible. Especially in a race , you can see them lose speed with each shift .
