Knowing how to deliver an action experience that sets itself apart from contemporaries while simultaneously appealing to genre veterans and newcomers is a strenuous, rarely accomplished feat. Yet, Hi-Fi Rush achieves all of the above with elegance and confidence. Even though the rhythm-infused gameplay is a double-edged sword that can make the later difficulty levels significantly less challenging, every gameplay-related strive is just really damn fun. From a succinct story that expertly sells you on a haphazardly formed group of heroes to vast waves of addictive replayability, Hi-Fi Rush deserves to be played by everyone, and this port has enhanced that accessibility even more. If you were like me and never had the opportunity to try out Hi-Fi Rush before, do yourself a favor and do so. Regardless of your history with action games, I promise you won't regret it.

Due to the music licensing this will be an important game to have a physical for later since we will still have the appropriate music for this game on disc as opposed to not when a license were to run out in a digital only medium. I'm waiting for LRG to put up the physical preorder as it should be fairly soon. The dualsense always seemed like the right controller for a game like this. I'm not supporting digital only releases of major/semi-major titles on Xbox so if these games show up with physical contingents especially on Switch/PS I'm far more interested. Thanks Noisy!

Not necessarily. For many, even digital games, that have been delisted due to license expiration, generally if you own even a digital copy of the game you still have access to it. I have many games that have been discontinued. While it’s not back compat on Playstation, a recent example is Spec Ops: The Line, which was delisted because of the real songs it uses losing licensing rights. I own a copy of the game on PC and XBox, and can still play them. Really all it means is if you don’t own the game when the license expires, you can no longer purchase it digitally. There’s always the used physical market at that point for those that don’t. If this were true we’d have issues with a lot of games. Including games like Death Stranding that use real music. Luckily this isn’t really an issue and I can’t think of any examples off hand that removed a purchases digital game from the owners library when music licenses expired. The publisher is not allowed to make any more money on it after expiration through new sales. But this wouldn’t impact current owners.

Hi fi rush got confirmed to get a physical copy for ps5 and Xbox series x through LRG. I'm so happy and excited to preorder. So far no word on switch port yet. I hope it happens

As a Playstation player, I'm happy to see the game being released on PS5. I wanted to wait to get a physical copy (with LRG) but as it was on pre-sale with a small discount, I bought it digitally.

The gsmeplay doesn't seem really fun, but I wonder how good the story and cast is. Kinda like Persona 5 & Strikers. I didn't click to me on impression, but after I tried it, I instantly loved it. From the cast to the amazing heartfelt story.

I think it's fine to pepper in some uncommon diction in order to accurately convey concepts or make a creative turn of phrase, but a lot of the word choice here is awkward or even inaccurate. It happens in most of the videos, but in this one it's near-constant. Sorry to be harsh, but Noisy Pixel could use a better editor.

i played it on Steam and loved but i have also in Ps5 getting into the beat on Ps5 feels off. im not hitting through the beat, but on PC im getting my hits. is it just me?

Possible input delay from the controller via Bluetooth+ TV tend to have higher input lag outside of gaming mode and the sound on that tv in built speakers usually come 50 ms after the image too bad this game doesn't have sound and video input delay calibration like metal hellsinger

This game is an absolute delight and a ton of fun to play, and I'm happy that a whole new console audience will get to experience it. It's also criminal that the game is only $30; daylight robbery for something this well-made. I'll also say that this is definitely a game where watching gameplay of it can only do so much; it *feels* awesome to play and the whole feedback loop when you finally get into the groove of how combos and attacks line up with the rhythm is a high I haven't felt in many other games.

Released but not physically with LRG also handling that, I'm not optimistic. So this could be added to the likes of Alan wake 2 of never being played. I will never pander to digital licensing.

@@sammalone7881I didn’t play this game until it came to PS5 so am not a salty XBox fanboy, and even I think this review is kind of weird. I think the ‘at home’ comment was taken out of context here and the reviewer should have said ‘compliments the gameplay well’ which I think is the intended tone. But, with lines like ‘I only wish I could have played it before now’ do stand out like sore thumbs. You have a game that the reviewer is interested in, gave a near perfect score to, and laments having not been able to play, when they could have played it long before and chose not to. For the average player that may only have one console and may not have a PC on top of it, but for an ‘independent review channel’ this is kind of dumb statement. Also, the game receiving an aggregate 91 for PS5 and 87 for XBox is also a bit weird. In the current landscape with players, the gap between how a game is perceived that gets a mid 80’s score and a game that gets a low 90’s score is quite large, and given XBox also has rumble feedback, I can’t imagine why the score is a whole half point higher on PS5. Either way, I own an XBox but don’t sub to GP and this isn’t normally my type of game, but it has been fun jumping into this one as something different and I am glad it’s on PS5. I love Tango as a studio and my only reason for owning an XBox this gen was because of the Bethesda purchase. Nice to at least still play some titles on my platform of choice.

@@mandrews6282maybe it runs better on PS5. Maybe now, after years out, there’s no launch issues/bugs. It’s not that serious. A different reviewer also changes the score, on top of him specifically stating the haptic feedback and dual sense amplify the experience
