Hey Bill. I really enjoyed, hearing them old Slim stories. He sounds like an interesting fellow. I think I would have liked Slim. You and Slim must have been pretty sharp back then, running them old pulling tractors. I would love to see you guys get old Slims tractor and Suburban running again. That would be cool.😎 👍💪🚜

It's funny how some of the things we used to do to pulling tractors. We knew it wasn't right, but it worked. Even when it should not have.😂😂

These stories about Slim are different than most of your stories about fellow pullers. To me, these stories share a deeper relationship between you and Slim, more than just acquaintance/fellow competitor, more like a brotherly relationship. Great stories from a good storyteller. God Bless!

Thanks for sharing the Bill. I enjoyed learning about Slim and yes sir sometimes we can get lucky with a repair. I've heard about a Uncle of mine fixing a neighbor's car years ago with cigarette paper in a rod bearing and it lasted till his brother hit roded it and she didn't like that and blew up. Lol

A while back my son bought a 3010 down in kentucky I think. The engine had a knock and knew it but he bought it cheap. We took the motor apart and somebody had just rebuilt it but one of the mains must have had excessive clearance because they had put shim stock behind the main bearing but it covered over the oil hole so it never got any oil to the bearing. Then we took the head apart and they had bought new valves but they put the intake valves in the exhaust holes and exhaust in the intake holes.

Been watching All your video’s for Quite a while now Bill, really enjoy them! Back in the early nineties when I was 16 years old my dads first tractor on our dairyfarm in Holland , a John deere 1020, an average farm tractor on Dutch farms in the 70’s and early 80’s, was downrated by a bigger Deutz tractor to a “Handy small job tractor” i dreamed of putting a turbo on there and a bigger fuel injection pump just to see what it would do, but always thought it be too difficult to make it work. If i had had KZbin back then i would have certainly gone for it after watching your video’s 😎. The john deere 1020 is now gone sadly. Traded in for a Wheel loader. It is a shame we don’t have antique puller classes over here yet. Would be Nice to run a tractor in such a class just for fun and bring back Some of the old atmosphere. Keep up the pulling 👍

It's amazing how some cobbled up repairs will go and go. But then a run down a pulling track is totally different from a hard pull in the field doing day(s) long tillage work. Slim would've been an interesting character to say the least. RIP If there's a pulling track in Heaven, he's probably in the midst of the action!!!

Hahaha, love it! We tractor pullers do some crazy stuff sometimes..... I love when people tell me "it will never work" or "you can't do that". Keep up the story telling. J.F.🇨🇦

Loved the story Bill! Yes my good man, I too specialize in the art of unorthodoxy! Sometimes it’s because meatball surgery is required due to dire urgency. Other times it’s just to prove a point!🤦🏻‍♂️ Bless’ns kind sir, Tedd

What a great story, Bill. When I went to diesel school we had an instructor that was into alternative repair methods. Sometimes he who cares less, wins. I wish you had some interviews of Slim, sounds like a great guy. Thanks for the stories.

Thanks for this story. Our first four cylinder John Deere was a 1010. I once put the cups backwards in an old 216 chevy engine. It lasted about one year before I had to pull it down and rebuild it again. I guess these mistakes will make you pay more attention the first time. You all come out better than I did. Thanks again and wishing you a great New Year!
