I'm just glad that you addressed the elephant in the room early instead of waiting until the end. I just found your channel with this video, now subscribed and off to poke around and see what your cases are sounding like, great walkthrough.

Aurora is more of a cinematic element… when and modulate your modulators with it…..it’s not a reverb per se…it’s an additive element for voices….

Your case looks super interesting, would be cool to hear what what your idea behind it is, like what your goal behind the case is :)

Hey thanks for the question! sorry for the delay, the notifications on YT leave a lot to be desired! I actually go into the motivation for my case in the first breakdown, in this video the motivation is largely the same. I like modules that can multitask. almost all of my main modular can do multiple things. For example Beads can be an Oscillator, or Filter 8 can also be an oscillator AND an LFO. I like that I can sit at the case and it can go in literally any direction. I have a few very specific modules like Castor and Pollux, DataBender, and Surface (which has drum sounds, so technically a multitasker too!) but they do specific things and I think they are among the best that do them. I literally haven't made any changes to my case since this video. I love the collection and find I have every option I could ever want... at least for now...lol

Some nice picks. Don't have the money, but if i did im doing exclusively midi to cv sequencing. A serge style function generators with cv control over attack/decay (aka maths). Lots of doepfer modules for analog sound generation. 3x mia by happy nerding. Disting ex by expert sleeper.
@NoiseToMost Жыл бұрын
That sounds like fun, I have struggled with setting up midi for sequencing, basic note values and triggers have been all I’ve been able to pull together, I also don’t use ableton and send midi out that way, but I understand that it’s very powerful, maybe one of these days! Good luck and thanks for commenting!

@@NoiseToMost I've got a degree in comp sci and I've been messing around in the daw since highschool so midi is pretty natural for me. Not an expert in the analog domain, all I've got is a behringer neutron. It has an assignable out that I leave mapped to velocity. Works great to scale envelopes. With cv controlled envelopes I could control atk/decay on a per note basis. That would be a huge increase in expression

I can relate to what you say of Aurora. Also thought of selling. But I started to use it in a gentle (?) way and I started to appreciate it. :)

Yeah I have to use it very sparingly, it’s still on the chopping block of modules first to go tho haha

😆 that’s true, I could get more vco’s 🤔, you’ve convinced me! 2 more mantis cases it is! 😂
@gautrstafr5 ай бұрын
nice rundown of your rig! Quick question about the Mantis, do your sequencing/clocks all sync up via bus? I've read some people saying that in that case things seem to automatically sync up.
@NoiseToMost5 ай бұрын
I am not sure if that only applies to tiptiop modules, I have also heard of some modules being able to communicate thru the power cable / bus board, but not specifically for mantis. I want to say maybe varigate can do that, but I don’t know that for sure. That has not been my experience, I have to clock everything with patch cables.

Excellent breakdown! Your clear and enjoyable flow makes this really interesting. Love the rig, man!! Total electronic wonderland. (I didn’t understand Aurora either) Starlab is the freakin bomb. Now I gotta go rock some videos of this baby in action. 🎛️🎚️🎛️🎚️🎛️🎚️

I am thinking of buying the Mantis case, or should I go two right away because man in theory they fill up fast! Great talk.
@NoiseToMost10 ай бұрын
I started with one and got the 2nd when I realized I could consolidate the space on my table by putting my Moogs in it, but then as I wanted more modules the moogs got kicked out one by one haha. If you know your prob going to fill them both then I would get them together, I had to get the 2nd one used because no one had stock at the time, so that’s another reason to get them together
@rayderrich10 ай бұрын
I think it will also give a proper signal to my wife if I buy two at once, she will see I am not soon done buying modules hahaha.

Interesting I have Make Noise XPO, While not a dual voice, It's FM and Self patching and abilities get it in the ball park. I also have Castor and Pollux and that is a dual voice, and I can do some FM and wavefolding with Carbon Filter and Filter 8. I def am interested in Buchla style patching, and appreciate when others do it, but my system obv isn't tailored to that. But I feel I can get in the ballpark for that kind of stuff when I get those more experimental feels. :-)

I don't think you'll find an Easter Egg mode on Beads, you must be confusing it with Rings. Maybe you mean the unpatched 'ins' make a wavetables?

I've heard DivKid refer to it as an easter egg mode, if nothing is in the inputs it has several algorithms from Plaits, You are calling this wave tables. Tomato/Tomato
