Thank you for taking the time to make this video and provide useful information. After having an endoscopy last week I met with my doctor today. He recommended the “wrap” procedure to repair my esophagus. He did not describe the recovery process in near as much detail and you have here which provides a much broader scope of the true healing process. I’m not excited about it on one hand but I am on the other IF it can provide relief after many years of suffering with the pain and bloating. I will be looking for your follow up videos from the next procedure. Thank you again and best of luck on the surgery. Praying for quick recovery 🙏🏻

Hey!! I had the TIF suregery with Hiatal hernia repair in 2023. I was told everything went fine. But, ive had swallowing issues. The drs did 3 barrium swallow tests on me. And i dont know why they lay you on your right side to drink some thick, nasty tasting stuff. But the test proved i did have trouble with swallowing. Its been a year. Im still having issues. My stomach burns like it's on fire about 90% of the time. The pressure in my chest and between my shoulder blades is awful. I have shortness of breath. Im 57 and keep 2 grandkids. Its hard to keep up with them. The drs dont know what the problem is. They just continue to refer me from the surgeon to my GI dr. Im still on a soft foods diet and have started losing my hair. I thought this was going to fix everything. But, im still eating a bottle of tums every 3 days. Not Joking !!! If any one has any ideas suggestions, please help. Wishing you the very best with your procedure thank you. I have received more information from you than my drs.

Hello and thank you so much for sharing this video with us. I have ongoing issues with food getting trapped in my throat and get stuck, which in turn I get sick and vomit. It started in my 20's but only happened occasionally. I passed it off as nothing and went about my life. These last two years have been horrible for me. I am now in my early 40's. I went to my doctor for help regarding all my symptoms I told her I was having. I would get food trapped in my throat and vomit about 2-3 times a month. I had trouble burping my food at times, so I would try and force burp and when I did, at times it would be like a foam burp. Under my bra area in my chest, I would get so full like a balloon inflated and I would have shortness of breath/trouble breathing. I would have this really thick full feeling in my neck and throat area. It became very uncomfortable. After I eat certain foods I would have coughing attacks. There have been times I have to sit straight up or stand after I eat, as I have trouble breathing and burping up the food. Doc would say, "are you taking your asthma and acid reflux medication." I have seasonal asthma but in the last two years my asthma really kicked up. Then she said lets do blood work. She says looks like you are going through pre-menouse in my early 40's. Then the heartburn (which started 2 years ago) became unbearable like a dragon throwing flames down my throat. I would wake up dead of night with the worst heartburn. At work a few times I had troubling breathing with shortness of breath, so nurses at work hooked me up to a nebulizer. I work at a surgery center to where they were able to help me with that. I would go back and forth with my doctor saying something just doesn't feel right. I am gaining so much weight in my upper abdomen, having trouble breathing, getting sick, having trouble burping and pains in my stomach every now and then. Still she said it's part of menopause try exercising and watch your diet. I was fine two years ago with my weight "until now." The heartburn medication doesn't work. I "demanded" on getting an upper endoscopy. Finally had the test done a week ago today. Worst thing I have ever went through. As I was not sedated enough and woke up through it choking, gagging, and coughing. I couldn't breath. Finally after all was done, she said I have a hiatal hernia. I didn't know what that meant. So I searched it and read a few things about it. Then I started getting emotional because these are the exact symtoms I am having and she never even put two and two together. She ponded it off to menopause and or my asthma. Then I came crossed your video and started crying because I felt like I really got some answers and that I 'm not alone in this. Others are going through this too, that it's just not me. Thank you so very much and looking forward to your update of your second post op procedure.

Thanks for your post! This is like a wild ride at the water park (the back and forth with doctor). Exactly everything I feared. I'm curious if anyone offered to try an ultrasound to detect a hiatus hernia. My problems developed after losing about 65lbs. I was turning my life around or trying. I began to have asthma symptoms as an adult (red flag). Upon extensive research, I found that GERD was the issue, but it wasn't the root cause. Turns out, it's a Hiatus/Hiatal Hernia. Currently (Not recommending this, however, I'm just afraid of surgery), for my hernia, I use a massage tool while lying flat, right below the left side of my rib cage while exhaling. I run the tool 6 - 8 inches down my abdomen towards my navel; repeat for a few minutes. The first time I did this, I felt a pop and I'll bet that was when the upper part of my stomach dropping out of my chest cavity. I do this everywhere I feel wheezing (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux, LPR) or asthma symptoms and get instant relief. I have to watch my posture when sitting, otherwise I stand at work. It works for me, along with my breathing exercises and strength training. I'm so sorry this happened to you or anyone, but for me, it was years of abusive eating and neglectful management of my health. I listen to my body now and I found that middle ground. Your journey gave me insight into the other side of this process. Thank you and be well!

I believe i have HH also..past few years have been rough, took ppis for a year but the side effects and long term dangers made me drop it cold. After hearing about HH i started to push down on my chest/stomach to try and reposition it. Honestly it helped me almost instantly, i felt like the back of my throat was repositioned or the obstruction moved. Easier to swallow also. Crazy to know our stomach can squeeze itself through our esophagus/diaphragm....i may get this surgery done one day as this has been horrible quality of life and with out ppis i couldn't sleep for more than 1 hour and spend the rest 6 hours fighting my acid reflux. Cant afford time off for surgery so I'll look into it eventually. I tried aloe juice which helped a little bit but moving my stomach down with massaging strokes helped so much. I would only want HH surgery not a tif no nessen no wrapping no tightening no devices. Keep it natural, pull stomach down reposition and seal the hole in the diaphragm. Thank you for speaking about your experience definitely helps us know what to ask for and expect.

I have the same problem I have to push down on my chest/ stomach too,not only do I feel it pushing up towards my chest I can also feel it twisting unfortunately it has been happening about once a month. I’ve had this problem for 12 yrs but never this severe & it’s only gotten worse. I went to the ER other day for it,they did test to make sure it wasn’t my heart. I kept telling them it’s not my heart,they wouldn’t listen to me. They discharged me when the all the test came back negative, showing my heart is fine. I’m scheduled to see a gastroenterologist. You’re absolutely right this is not a good quality of life. I have to be careful how I laugh, how I move to my left & right, I can’t let myself feel hunger pains because it brings on this hernia it’s extremely painful. I hope things get better for you & everyone else suffering with this, God bless.

I remember crying out and the nurse said she was giving me some moraphine in my IV. Instant relief and feeling that nothing mattered. I turned to jello and dozed off. And struggle to breathe. I spent a few hours looking up on line how to get rid of it naturally. I came across a video. I tried it. You drunk a bottle of water first thing in the morning. Then jump up and down for 5 minutes. I felt my stomach fall downward and I immediately could breathe better. I had acid reflux bad afterwards for a few days so I drank cold mylanta. Two capsules each day for 3 days. Twice a day. For 7 years Ive been eating anything Until COVID hit. Messed up my esophagus. Constricts and I choke on food. Even during the night. I have to have bottle water with me 24/7. I go in for the capsule test and scope plus a colonoscopy due to cancer previously.

Question: when the doctor went in to do the surgery and realized that your hiatal hernia was much bigger than previously expected, why did he continue with performing the TIF? From my understanding, the TIF is only successful for those with hiatal hernias less than 2cm

Yes doctor tell me that if less 2cm we can do TIF if not amd it large than 2cm not remmmocoed for me

Thank you for sharing. I’m curious what were your symptoms of having a hiatal hernia and acid reflux ? I’ve been suffering from a chronic cough for many years and I’m trying to heal it completely and if it’s what you have. Wondering if you coughed ? Thank you
@ninabella93002 жыл бұрын
I have a cough for almost 6 months. Throwing up once in a while and burning in my throat. I went to see my ENT and told me acid reflux. I got a referral to go see my gastro and now I have to do an endoscopy. I changed my diet and I feel much better but I still have this horrible cough. I might have to get a surgery smh 🤦♀️

@@ninabella9300 I'm sorry to hear this Nina...and also thank you for sharing because I feel really alone in this. I also have a chronic cough and just today I had two horrible cough attacks and I am constantly cleaning my throat by coughing. No one knows how to help me...I have not done the endoscopy yet and I ENT told me to go back to trying Omeprazole (PPI) but I am on days 10 and it's definitely not working. Maybe the endoscopy will help you and give you more answers. I will go to a Pulmonologist next week but I think the endoscopy with Bravo may be my next step. Sending all my best wishes

I had a chest x-ray for a consistent cough and my chest was clear but they saw a hiatal hernia about 5mm and dr. was not too worried about it. But i am worried, but as I did my research I found that my consistent cough was from too much acid in my system, so I switched my eating plan and my cough almost disappeared. I have to watch what I eat now. I read that exercises like planks and side planks and bridges to straighten the area around the hernia.

@@caitlynwells6648 Nice of you to ask. The surgery was a success and the recovery was a challenge, but doable. I only had one count of aspiration at night from eating very spicy food, so I learn to just take an antacid if I ever eat that again.
