@@jacobdavio9722 you’re right, they deserve so much more spotlight, aside for all the trivial bile the music industry keeps spewing out for the sheeple that “sounds like that artist from years ago...”, Hiatus take it to another level and often too many artists fall off the radar, but on the flipside, their creativity keep their sounds strong as they have to be to get people hooked and they get one hell of a lot more respect for it 👍

I had the great pleasure and privilege to see them live last year here in Dublin. And I also had the chance to chat a bit with their bass player and drummer. I will say this; when you are a 55 years old guy, have been playing music yourself for over 30 years and have witnessed some of the greatest bands ever passed this planet including the Sun Ra Intergalactic Orchestra, superlatives are not something that you put out lightly. But seeing the Hiatus Kaiyote was a revelation!! Addictive, musical geniuses, inspiring beyond descriptions. And they can play everything! For me right now they are one the greatest bands!

Hey, I'm a 55 yr old guy who's a musician too, and yes, I've heard some of the best prog rock, jazz, funk, fusion there ever was (Return to Forever, National Health, David Sancious, Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, etc, etc) and it is a joy to see and hear that the spirit of fusion music has not vanished, despite the purists and the naysayers. These guys are righteous!

You know, it takes one to know one. This speaks volumes for Who You Are as well. I had no idea who they were when I heard them on a local jazz station one day last summer driving to starbucks. I was inspired to video the gorgeous afternoon sky while sitting at a light while Hiatus was playing on my cheap car radio. The timing of the music to the changing scenery and background noises was amazing and the moment I pulled into starbucks the song ended and the DJ gave me the vital info about who They were. Couldn't have timed the video any better. Money can't buy serendipity! Here's the link if you're interested. It's only 90 seconds. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qp-2p41qe9ebfKM

This song is literally HEALING. Every single vibration, dictation, vibe is felt and expanded! Nai's ability to beautifully paint a picture while taking you on a journey with every word using her voice is a magic within itself. Everything about this song from the key changes, the tempo switches, the variety of instruments, the runs, the pronunciation of certain words, is it's own experience. The more you listen to, the deeper you go; the depths unknown and unmeasurable and so tantalizing for the soul. Thank you Hiatus Kiayote for being so musically and spiritually gifted and for sharing your vibrations with us all

Impossible to describe how much this music means to me. It crosses so much soul, jazz and funk with the courage to take chances. It is so heavy in the roots of many music styles, yet it is completely unique. I am a guitarist, but this makes me want to sing my heart out.

I remember downloading Choose Your Weapon when it came out because I was so enamoured by the album art. After listening to it the first time, I knew I liked it but never really understood it until I ventured into a lot of other jazz influenced music (Soulection, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Erykah Badu, Jameszoo to name only a few). Returning to this album gives me so much joy as I now have the musical maturity to understand what's going on. It's fucking lit, fam.

@@Theohybrid it was an interview about dealing with the passing of her mother and an injured bird she was helping. It scratched her face before being released after healing. She missed the bird and realized a comparison on her mom being gone. Got the scar tattood as a symbol of them leaving but not gone. She said it better however I just bust into tears 😢
