U know if u double tap the right joystick ur character will point until u click it again, its best way to flag a race just point up and then drop ur arm it looks like hes actually flagging a race

How the hell do you get that sudden boost of speed?

After shifting, you quickly punch the clutch in, rising the engine's rpm. Once you let go, this gives the car a significant boost in acceleration temporarily.

double clutch. before shifting to 3rd gear, let go of the gas - tap the ebrake - get back to holding the gas - then tap the ebrake one last time. this works for just some cars...
