Great review, thanks! Just got the new R3 Pro after using the OG model since 2020. I have many of the same IEMs you do and will certainly give the IE600 a try once the R3 Pro is set up. Airplay is quite convenient for me and a bit hard to find it on other devices at this price point.

Nice review awesome quality as usual. Had the 2022 model for a few months, last year I changed both my on the go and setup and main rig to a more neutral sounding setups. I like this approach more after many years with warm and colored gear. Easier to match headphones and IEMs.

@@lrvan It was good enough but it made me want to transfer pretty much everything from my phone to my DAP, like my audiobooks through audible and other services - which this didn't support. But if you want just music, this is for sure good enough.

@@Pray888 can't you just download everything as normal file and load it up to the HiBy? I guess KZbin isn't supported either then.. but I can download the mp3 and load the files into the SD card you know.

honsetly i might buy this as an alternative to a BTR5... use it as a bluetooth dongle but still have a SD card for when stuff is not on tidal

My gen 4 iPod is my go to atm (normally using at work connected to some mehh Bose companion ii speakers), and want something good to pair my new iem addiction with.

Hi, I'm a new subscriber. Thanks for your honest review! I bought a Hiby R3 Pro Saber a few days ago and just noticed that the 2022 version does exist and cost about $30 more than the one I got. Is it worth it to return them and get the new model? What about if I'm not using it with powerful headphones or balanced cables? Is there a difference in soundstage, imaging or instruments separation between the two? Please let me know 🙏

TWO TOO IMPORTANT QUESTIONS THIS HIBY R3 UNFOLDS THE MQA OF THE NATIVE TIDAL APP FROM THE SAME R3 THAT IS TO SAY WITHOUT USING ANYTHING MORE THAN THE HIBY R3 AND ALREADY WITHOUT CELL PHONES? I have a r3 pro sabre when it first came out, fantastic sound with all my iems. About 98% sound of my m6 pro. I bought a second r3 pro sabre 1.5 years later black friday 2021 direct from Hiby. I can say the sound is complete garbage with iems. The sound has drastically changed for the worst with all my dozen or so iems. The issue is Odd sound stage with iems and 3d treble. I will say the second r3 sabre pairs well with my hd600 but thats not what I bought it for. The sabre is for iems. Also the sound is so drastic between both Sabres. If i got a 2022 then I would highy not recommed this dap. Also both are on the same firmware. And yes i have tried diffrent firmwares and the second r3 sabre sound is total garbage!

So the Sabre 2022 is good for your Sennheiser HD600, but not for IEMs? That's interesting. Because I also have the Sennheisers, probably I should try the Hiby, because Sony DAPs are really weak for the headphones.

With my Audio Technica MSR7b this little piece of ... Hiby R3Pro Saber 2022 - sounds exactry like my Samsung Galaxy S10e. In blind test. Sold it as my previous Hiby R3Pro Saber 2020. And never by any of Hiby again. Sad but true.

Actually, the top Samsung phones got quite good sound hardware, so it's not a surprise that its sound is comparable with the low end DAPs such the Hiby (it's just s $200 device). But people buy DAPs, not only because to dramatically improve sound quality, but also the modern phones hasn't any SD card extension, also it's really annoying when you're receive some notifications when you listening to music. And the DAPs have better overall amplification anyway.

@@antonsiberian SD card slot is my prime criteria about smartphone. And really, don't know what to buy new after S10e. No 3.5 jack, no SD card slot - such a bad trend.

That mseb whatever they call eq it's plain stupid . You add vocals and the mid bass vanishes. You add warm and the voice frequency is gone again and the mid bass comes again. Best eq is from sony

MSEB in theory is EQ. Think of it as a Parametric EQ system.
