That's what kids are great for, my 9 years old loves testing tubes and he is really good at it

I got to pull out my 121 again and see what is wrong with it. Should have wrote myself a note of what the problem was with it when it stored it away. As I recall, it would adjust line test, but would peg the meter when test for emissions was pushed. I am missing all the double digit tube cards for mine, and would like to have one for the 6E5 eye tubes as well. I will have to look to see if I have any of the cards for loctal tubes, got me curious now.

Somewhat reminds me of my Kalibr L3-3 tube tester. In my opinion the best tube tester ever made.

That's a very cool tube tester Bob, I've never seen one before. I like it.

I agree and you can often get a good deal on them. The audiophile crowd looks down on them because they don't have all the knobs, switches and lights 🙄

I really like my ks 15874 cardmatic. Are the cards the same as the 121? If so, if I have dupes of what you need I'll send them to you.
@bandersentv3 ай бұрын
No. Yours is the same as the Hickok 123

I’d love to see that with the hood off. The switching matrix must be pretty wild in that card reader.

Does testing the emissions instead of the transconductance work well enough? Seems like it must be at least somewhat indicative of tube health since so many testers work that way.
@bandersentv3 ай бұрын
I couldn't say for sure. An emissions tester will weed out dead or really weak tubes but when it comes to marginal tubes I'm not sure. What I do know is transconductance is a more accurate test.

Are these of a size that would fit in a standard index card box?
@bandersentv2 ай бұрын
They are 3x6 so a 4x6 index card box should work

if you tube tester today you could use a micro Prosser , . memory display and storage device to hold the setting information

Got it, got it, need it, got it, need it need it. I'll trade you a 6AU7 for a Sandy Alomar Jr. Rookie card

Best I can do is a Billy Ripken "fuckface" card and a shirtless Kirby Puckett. If the 6AU7 is a Raytheon I'll throw in three cracked sticks (one has cardboard stuck to it) of 1986 Topps bubblegum.

@@UMAMIMAMUYeah, I already got the censored one in my set and all I got is a RCA. I can sweeten the deal with a half used Bendix eye tube...

If that tester uses filament transformer taps, maybe there just are not enough taps to cover all the voltages.
@bandersentv3 ай бұрын
It can handle any filament volage. There are 10 taps at 10 volt increments, 10 taps at 1 volt increment and 10 taps at .1 volt increments.

@@bandersentv Oh, I see. Very clever. I'll have to watch that re-cap video on it, you probably explained that then.

@@bandersentv Plus a 117 supply directly from the adjusted line?
@bandersentv3 ай бұрын
@@SeekingTheLoveThatGodMeans7648 yes, but that just goes to the primary of the power transformer.
