I discovered Hickorys when I moved to Chester; absolutely my favourite place. I took a girl there on a first date and she didn't know to have so went safe with mac n cheese. Somehow we ended up married! We are now living North and miss Hickorys badly!

Disclaimer….I am a “Kansas City BBQ Society Judge”….This means that I travel about and judge the Meats served up by the Teams at KCBS sanctioned BBQ events. There are two commercial BBQ places that I will eat in in the UK…. First is Bare Grills in Bristol; The Brisket they produce is the best I have ever tasted plus the service here is beyond exceptional. Highly, highly recommended. The second is Hickorys; Their pork has always been good and it’s always good to see Jacobs Ladders on the menu. If you get the chance, get down to Bare Grills in Brizzle, ask for Matt and say I sent ya!

Nice! There's a hickory's in Chester, by the river which is amazing, also opened one in Shrewsbury that's been very successful. One of the better smokeries, good value too. The platter looked amazing.

I love Hickory’s they have one not far from me. The staff are always friendly and love the little touches like the bottled water and popcorn. I agree the sausages are amazing but all the food is. I go there for the churros yum! It’s down to the company about service charge and as it is American you would expect it. But I always remove service charge and give my own tip. 9.5 from me

Never been to a Hickories. I don’t even think we have one here in Norfolk unless someone knows otherwise. That place looks the bees knees; that brisket looked so tender and flavoursome. I do love a good steak but also slow cooked pork so it just falls apart. You both done tremendously well to eat all that with a milkshake to wash it all down!👍

Service charge is a bloody nightmare. It’s crafty they put it in without you realising sometimes. They got me a few times. Seems to be a new thing.. never remembered a service charge like 10 years ago

Great review as ever guys!! The BBQ meats looked nice as well as the shakes. Often wondered what the Hickory restaurants were like as have 2 near me in Poynton n Wilmslow and always seem busy. Didn’t realise they have a lot of restaurants in the UK but they must be doing it right so good luck to them! Scores on the doors 9/10.

for the 8 times i've been there the 1st time i had chicken waffle the 2nd 3rd and 4th I had chicken in a basket 5th i had waffle again 6th and 7th I had chicken in a basket and for the 8th last night I had the smokehouse platter and it was the big one and I gained like 25 lbs in a space of 3 hours so i've been hitting the gym way more than usual

This looks a great place. The start looks like a classic film, Sherrif "Dirty Lyle" walking up and down with a pain full smile looking for "Rubber Duck" then the bar brawl starts. Food looked anazing, ten four good buddy. BTW........the film is Convoy for the younger viewers 🙂

I was at 1 with 5 people the other day. 2 share platters like you had were ordered and i had a chicken burger. Mine was Lovley as was the platters the others said but mine turned up nearly 10 minutes before theirs. Also had to ask for desert spoons after they brought the deserts over. Only minor things but i didn't want to pay the £13 tip but was outnumberd by the group so had too chip in 😅😅

Went to Hickory's Chester with the better half last night and also had the platter you guys had, with the magic dusted mushrooms as extra instead of the mac and cheese you had.. I usually always go for the ribs in hickorys but fancied a taste of everything this time round. And my god I loved every bit of it (of what I could manage to stomach anyway) 😂 But yeah, totally agree with the sausage, was fantastic. But what I was amazed by was the BBQ pulled pork pit beans. My god, for something so simple, it was superb. Special mention goes to their hot sauce though. Didn't have the one chef Dave got given, it was the "Hot Heads" on the hotometer they have on the bottle. I paid to take a bottle of it home with me it was that good. 👍🏻 P.S Never not get that badge in Dave 🤙😁

Busy place, good to see open kitchen. Big meal there, loads of quality meats and well presented. Chef Dave knows his trade and a good bloke. 7.5% tip to staff is ok. I thought the bill was a tad high, but that is UK. From me, all very good it is a 9.
