To anyone who visits Dallas-Fort tx area please know there are better places. Pecan lodge, Cadillacs BBQ are both better options no disrespect to Terry blacks its great just saying there is better places to try. Goldies is ranked number 1 in tx by Texas monthly magazine for another example.

Apple Wood is good to use for BBQ cooking and other fruit trees like Plum ,,,Cherry ,,Peach are also ... Red Oak and Hickory is great also..

That's a matter of opinion and goes exactly against what the guy from Terry Black's was talking about when he was talking about using Post Oak. The reason they use Post Oak is because it doesn't have any flavor other than smoke so you taste the meat and not the flavoring of the wood.

@@michaelweb7416 It varies from year to year. Texas Monthly is the de-facto authority and they do a huge issue about it every 4 years. Do a search for "texas monthly top 50 bbq" and you'll find all the lists. But know that all of the places on the list will be the best BBQ you ever had. Coming in 50th is still a huge achievement.

I was just here may or the end of May 2024 we just got back from a corporate trip and we went here. It is true what they are saying this is the best barbecue you will ever have when I went it was like a nightclub it was so busy it was unbelievable. I had the brisket pork ribs a little bit of turkey they gave me for free just to try it and the regular sausage it's the best takeout steak or steak dinner I have ever had. Side note here they like to use Canadian beef because they are more fatty when the Canadian beef crosses the Border they name it us beef in Canada when us beef comes North we can't call it Canadian beef but when it goes to this place or the United States they name it us beef.

I refuse to believe there is one best ever BBQ joint. From Texas to Eastern North Carolina and many in-between, little old shacks with a smoker, there is no one place that is best. If you are blessed, you live where you can ask "What kinda Q do you want for lunch?"

I tend to agree. It’s all so regional. I live in Western NC, so our ribs have a sweeter sauce than Eastern, vinegar-based sauce (which I actually prefer, despite growing up just outside of Lexington). I have family in Northwest Alabama, and there, it’s smoked chicken thighs and Alabama white sauce. If you haven’t tried that white sauce, give it a day in court. Change yo life, I promise!

Terry Blacks is decent but there’s at least 3 places better in Austin alone, Terry blacks restaurant setup is probably the best though that we went to when we travelled over from uk on a BBQ trip in September

I'm sorry but Goldees is garbage. Super long waits for just barely ok bbq. To be honest Rudy's is on par with Goldees. Terry Blacks on the other hand. Absolutely perfection. Beef ribs and brisket to die for. Sausage and pork ribs are fantastic. Sides are ok. I like their corn the best for sides.
