I can see a Nepalese Kora (axe-tipped sword) in the thumbnail! Hilt looks different. Pommel is correct, but the crossguard looks like classic Turkish, which made its way through many Eastern European and West Asian countries. Definitely one of the more effective blade types. The only reason the Nepalese stopped using it was because they were introduced to guns by the British. Although they did continue to use Kukris and still do to this day.

Thanks for another great Weapons Wednesday. The Nepalese people have amazing designs for chopping weapons. The kukri is a great chopping knife, and the kora would be a great chopping sword. If I had any skill, I'd love to sharpen this polypro kora and then use electroless nickel to make the blade look like a metal blade. The result would be a beautiful photography prop. The Hidden Blade Knuckles might be good for opening boxes because the blade wouldn't go too deep into a box.

I have known what a kora was for many years. Although it did originate in Nepal it, like it's smaller sibling the kukuri, were widely used in India. That one's hilt seems to be Indian type as it's the typical short guard & disk pommel found on talwar, Punjabi kukuri & other Indian swords; although I've seen at least 3 different hilt types on kora. I have personally had an interest in Indo-Persian Arms & Armor since I was 10. After European A&A Indo-Persian A&A has been what I'm most fascinated by. Fortunately in 2002 I went to England & saw tons of Indo-Persian A&A in museums. Unfortunately there have not & are not a lot of Indo-Persian A&A replicas available; although now & again some things will show up. A couple years ago I did a 3 part video on the Indo-Persian weapons in my collection. This means, and I'm happy to say, I have enough in my collection to show g talk about to necessitate a 3 part video 😂

A common quote about Bowie knives is by culturalist Russell Johnson, “It [a Bowie knife] must be long enough to be a sword, sharp enough to use as a razor, wide enough to use as a paddle, and heavy enough to use as a hatchet.”

Every time I hear stiletto I think of the stiletto heels women wear, I can imagine a female version of James Bond wearing the shoes with the stiletto blade inside the stiletto heel that would not only give her extra inches in height depending on the blade when it comes out, also if she tries to kick anyone anywhere it will be as deadly as she is 😂. I personally like the Bowie knife and I forget what blade sharpener should I use for one, because I've used mine to make marshmallow sticks, only two times so it's still sharp but I want to keep it that way.
@Karatemart Жыл бұрын
That's an excellent question, my friend! If it just needs the edge sharpened up, a wet stone works well for most people. We also have some very easy to use knife sharpeners on KarateMart.com.
