The cost of being without a winch....$$$ could be a lot more if you factor time lost, possible equipment damaged, injuries, health issues, etc. If you are out and alone, a good winch system is priceless.

Hey, your channel inspired me to buy the same bumper you have from brute force fab! I am planning on adding a winch to it before installing but currently have a stock suspension. In your opinion what is my best option for stopping the front end from sagging on a budget? Should I lift my truck 2-2.5 inches or just replace the springs? And what lift or springs would you recommend? Thanks, Graham

I spent almost 2k through Warn for my get up. The accessories (a go bag with straps and shackles, gloves, extra shackles, rear tow shackle, damper blankets, etc.) cost double the winch. But I can say, it's money well spent though. Saved my own ass many times.

I wish you would have showed some pictures of your winch, as well as using it in a demo run, I assume it has an extended controller? Should take your truck to a beach somewhere, have a sweetheart in a bikini stranded in her truck, and you'll be her hero, no trees no problem, bury her spare and winch her, free and the rest is history you can speed up the film a little bit like Benny Hill, pleasing all the Tacoma Boys out there LOL

@@tbmevent01 That antenna on my front bumper isn't actually wired to anything (just using it as a feeler for branches since it's the same height as my roof boxes). I've got my CB antenna mounted to my roof rack and the grounding wire just running from the roof rack to a bolt on the frame in the rear fenderwell.

How do you choose strut upgrade? I added bumper and winch, my front end is now lower. Local shop said just do leveling kit, but with added weight I agree with you that I should upgrade my struts.
@Tacomaholic
@Tacomaholic 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the weight but stiffer coils up front will be able to hand the weight better so the front end doesn't sag.

@Tacomaholic

@@steventruong85 I'm on 700lbn springs and it feels fine for me. I've got the front bumper, winch, and front armor for weight though. Just depends on how soft you want it to feel. Some prefer 600 or 650 springs.

While no one will ever describe an unboosted Tacoma of being a "speed demon," (and probably not even a boosted one) I am genuinely curious how long it takes you to get up to speed with all the stuff you've got on there. I do recall your video a few months ago about behavioral changes to increase fuel efficiency (which i do as well), but I wonder if you ever had to go over a mountain pass at elevation, i imagine all 236 horses this thing has will be at maximum use. I'm saying all this not to be funny, but because i too have a 2nd gen (also 2014) and expect to have about 500-700 lbs all together eventually, including a roof top tent, and will be traversing all over Utah and Colorado. Because of this, I even considered adding a free-flowing exhaust and cold air intake (yes, i know those are mostly for sound, but even 10 hp increase i think would help in this case).

No steep mountain passes where I live on the east coast, but truck feels fine going up sharper grades on the highway.
@chris38663
@chris38663 4 жыл бұрын
I have a gen 3 that I load to 6000lb with my camping gear and mods, and I live in Utah. If the pass is steep enough to be a real concern, you'll be in low range and scratching up it. Will I get passed up the paved mountain passes? Yes of course. Does that concern me, not at all. Drive slow and enjoy the view when it gets hilly. It does well enough on the highway too. If you want acceleration get a Tesla. If you want towing, get a Ram. Everything else, get a Tacoma. (bias)

You already have a cold air intake from the factory- draws cool air from the wheel wells. You wont see much of a difference there. URD’s equal length LT headers are a worthwhile upgrade, and add decent power throughout the power band. Ihave those, exhaust with resonator, and URD’s MAS calibrator. Ample passing power on the highway and I run oversized tires, winch and plate front, HC rear, sliders and a rear shell.
