Music is a set of emotional instructions. There are certain things that can be done with the order of the notes how the notes are related to each other etc. that brings about certain feelings. For instance in a movie when the room is all dark and there is a door and the character goes to open the door, what makes the scene suspenseful is the music. Without it, it would just be a person opening a door. But the music gets the idea across like little else can.

Davis > Stirling Why? Stirling kinda - for me at least - is too hectic, too loud and kinda always the same (since it's her style). Davis is more pure, relying more on the violin itself than some electric music merged into it.

This is how I feel as well. While I do love some of Stirlings stuff it all really kinda runs together and ends up being all very similar while Davis seems to put a bit more thought into her compositions, at least in terms of the theory behind her songs.
