On your Kubota the first control handle position (fast ) dump takes the oil coming out of the bottom of your tip cylinders and ADDS it to the oil going into the other end . This makes the cylinder move much faster but cylinder force is then (piston end diameter area minus rod end diameter area) so it won’t pick up the tractor. The “hidden function “ lets the cylinder rod end oil go directly back to the oil tank and the cylinder piston end gets full system pressure. (Slower but more force) The fast cylinder movement is called a regeneration circuit if anyone wants to better understand it.

I have the 2023 JD1025R, when I was using my grappler to clear my woods, I kept running into this 'Hidden' feature of my loader. Until I watched your clip, I wasn't even aware of what was happening to my loader. I thought it was a flaw in my hydraulics. Heaven knows the Little guy is underpowered in trying to do two functions at once! So I really was flummoxed at how to get the grappler to lift & curl without having to wait for it to finish a very slow movement then activate the second movement

The best use of this function is to set the heel of the bucket on the ground, then roll the toe/blade down, this will level the bucket, then use the float function to clean the ground off going forward without digging.

Was hoping that might be an option. Dealer always insisted it was self levi g but then this was i reference to the bucket high in the air to stop dumping the load on the driver. I always hoped the bucket could self level on the ground for flattering skimming like a skid steer. Maybe im actually in luck.

I'm glad I found this cause I tried to raise my tires off the ground with the bucket flat to no avail but thanks to you I figured it out. I wanted to mention something else about our BX tractors and it's about attaching a BXxpanded Under Armor skid plate. I don't have a mower deck on my 1880 so when I attempted to lower my mounting arms they simply would not drop down and I tried over and over. The solution came from watching an old video and what the guy had to do was just grab the arms and pull them down. It just didn't have enough weight to drop by themselves. A simple solution to a simple problem.

Very nice presentation.. Never my main job, but spent a lot of years in the fertilizer business. Front end loaders were used many hours to move the fertilizers from the bins to the mixer. This "hidden function" wasn't on any of our loaders to my knowledge. I can see it would make the job easier to have the proper angle on the lower part of the bucket so you get a full bucket each time. The key is to have the bottom of the bucket as close to parallel the floor (ground) as possible for maximum efficiency.

Just discovered your channel today and subscribed. What I learned from Good Works Tractor is that 75% of the grapples he has sold in the last year is the the Brush Crusher by Westendorf. The power beyond kit was no longer available for my JD 1070 (1990) and so adding the 3rd function would cost an additional $1,000 to the cost of a usual grapple. The Brush Crusher doesn't require any other hydraulics other than raise/lower/curl/dump. I was skeptical at first, but the KZbin videos were convincing. I purchased one in April and it's fantastic. I am not affiliated with Westendorf or Good Works Tractor. Keep up the great work. Kind Regards, Craig
@MyClutteredGarage
@MyClutteredGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig. I appreciate your comments. I've seen a few videos with the Brush Crusher but honestly haven't given it that much attention. I guess it works like a manual "thumb" on a backhoe? I've been chatting with Good Works about joining one of my livestreams. Hoping we can coordinate it by the end of summer or fall, so stay tuned! Thank you. -Ed
@craigdreisbach5956
@craigdreisbach5956 3 жыл бұрын
@@MyClutteredGarage Actually it duplicates the thumb by using the stock mechanical arms of the loader such that it changes the crushing pressure depending on the curl position of the bucket. It's kind of a "gee whiz" thing, like "how did they think of that". As you lift the bucket and "curl" it in, the mechanical arms cause the upper and lower jaws to encircle the brush, limbs or branches. It kind of baffles my mind on who could think of it. It's available in black, kubota orange and john deere green. So ultimately, you're only using your normal bucket controls, but it acts like you have a thumb or third function. It saved me the hassle of playing with the hydraulic hoses and a diverter valve, and also the additional expense. I really enjoy your channel and feel we're like minded in our approach to things. I live in Vermont on 128 wooded acres and uneven landscape so cutting up downed trees and using a grapple has been lifesaving for my back, etc. Kind regards, Craig

I have a Legrand L 3450 and I have a frame mounted fron blade for smoothing dirt and plowing snow. I couldn't get it to angle to the right and that's when I found out about the detent valve. Now that I know about it I can swing my blade from side to side easily. I love my tractor and I love my blade as I can manipulate snow right where I want it. Then with 2 pins ilock the tripping part and it turns it into a solid blade for dirt. I can actually get the pot holes out of my driveway when I catch it early in the year. Otherwise my driveway gets so hard that with down pressure and front end off the ground I just scrap about 1/4 of an inch at a time. Box scraper won't break through but backhoe will. Lol.. thanks for the tip. I had to have a service call to find it out.

Question? Did you compared yours with the BX23s, prior to buy it? I'm on the fence, between both models. I can't have a too heavy tractor, my ground is very soft, specialy during rain season, but I hate the ground clearance and FL lifting capacity on the BX23s. I never seen both models side by side , with Backhoe,Loader & Belly mower, to compare sizes. Price is crazy too on the B2601. Apreciate your imput.

I've known about the intermediate position on the dump function, but I never thought about using it with the bucket on the ground the way you described it. I always just thought about it as Fast Dump and Slow Dump. Because all the hydraulic functions on the loader use the same pump (I would have to go back to the manual to confirm that), you should be able to slow the grapple by combining the action with other loader functions.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the hidden dump feature is, but it's good to know. My brother has a Kubota B2650 HST so I'll be sure to let him know about that. His backhoe attachment has very little power though and stalls the engine if he tries to dig or pull out shrubs. Maybe there's a "hidden" lever somewhere that will make it dig like a CAT 352F. BTW, your video was really well put together and I'm sure helped a lot of people new to small tractors. Kudos!

Great video, I guess I didn't catch your name. This is a features that is actually on the BX as well, but like yourself and the vast majority of people it get overlooked. I found it on the BX I had by accident. So I think this is sort of a float with light pressure but to get full pressure you have to go all the way. I now have the same machine you have here the B2601 with the backhoe and truly love the machine. I makes the BX feel like a toy I hate to say. BUt it is an amazing machine and just does things so so little effort in comparison. But great video and I'll have to check out your other videos as well to see what you all have done with your machine. Thanks!! Tony!

@@MyClutteredGarage Thanks for the quick Comment Ed!!! I don't get back to people as quickly like this. To many irons in the fire all the time. But ya I been a big BX guy and obviously have products for these machines but working on new stuff for the B01 machines now too! So if you have any things you can think of it needs let me know. But would be nice to chat with you over the phone one day as well.
