During our travels around Australia, my husband & I worked at the Prairie Hotel for 7 mnths in 2016. We also stayed & managed the camp ground down the road at the old school yard. Loved our time at Flinders Ranges. Food was amazing. They recently renovated inside the Prairie. I have to go back one day.

An amazing place to sit on the old water troughs out the front, having a beer and watching the sun go down. The Prairie Hotel is a great outback pub. Great views, great food, iconic location, micro brewery - what else do you need. Fred looked like he’d settled in on the verandah too.

Fantastic episode. Bendelly with the views and ranges there was spectacular. Sounds like a trip to the Prairie pub is worth a trip on it's own. Fred looked like he was enjoying the attention there.

Brings back memories from the mid 1970's when my ex parent in laws lived in Blinman and Bob always called in for a beer when passing the Para Pub. One morning we were going through Para and called in and had a beer at 7.30 in the morning. Another time in Blinman sitting at the bar when we heard Bob's little dog barking, the next thing this roo comes bounding through the back door and out the front door with one little dog in pursuit. Only with country pubs like the Prairie.

Hey Harry, I hope you drove the Parachilna to Blinman Road on your return home. The highway is an excellent Rd but the scenery between Parachilna and Blinman is awesome…..right up your alley. I have visited the Prairie Hotel many times over the last 35 years, my favourite story: The pub advertised as 11am open time many years ago, we pulled up at 11:30am, upon doing so we woke a young lady who was asleep at the wooden table out the front on the day. Without missing a beat, she hopped up, rubbed her eyes, walked inside the pub (we followed not knowing she was staff) she turned the lights on and said welcome to the Prairie Hotel! On the day I introduced my friends to the Feral Platter, great outback experience!

Hey Harry, Love your channel and love your cooking. The last time I was in the Flinders was on an Army exercise with the drill sergeant saying to us “stop complaining… you’ll have to pay to come back when you’re out of the Army”… well guess what? Next year hopefully… and will definitely grab a bite at the “Prairie” Hotel. Thanks for a great channel.

Fred on the food drop at the Prairie in 00.2 seconds😂 that hotel lite up at nine looked so pretty. The scenery in this was stunning. The 2 cars on the hill in the drone footage didn't even look real.

Really enjoyed the food at The Prairie Hotel a few years ago. Had a big dish of Camel Sausages, Roo Steak and Emu Filet (if memory serves) and ir was all delicious. Stayed the night and used their toilet & shower facilities which were basic but very clean with good water pressure and an excellent hot shower. Will definitely return

Boe and I had lunch there last year during a cleanup tour. Lovely spot. So not what I was expecting for an outback pub. So nice. Camel was my favourite.

Our back yard, sensational country. The Prairie is a great little oasis for a beer and a feed. Highly recommend you explore this area. There is sooooo much to see and do

I was at the the Prairie Hotel just last month and very much enjoyed their beer and the Feral mixed grill. Great spot and you definitely feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.

Been to the Prairie Hotel a few times and never been disappointed. The fit out inside is also spectacular. Blimnan pub is another must see pub in the area.

G'day Harry , South Australia is a fabulous place to explore I can't wait to get back there next year . If you get the chance head over to Glendambo then turn west follow the rd (a bit rough drop your tyres down ) to Kingooyna it's a great little out back pub and caravan park with everything that you need for a great stay. The meals at the pub are just great I recommend The Drillers it's a chicken snitty with mushroom gravy , the lady's that run the caravan park behind the pub do great breakfasts and coffee , well the trip out the for a memorable night around the fire pit. I hope Fred makes a full recovery it's great to have a four leg pal with you . Almost forgot Praire

Had the Feral Mixed Grill at Prairie Hotel, didnt know what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised, the herb and spices used wouldn't be out of place in a top city restaurant. Liked how it also appears old and to the period on the outside, but had full renovations inside. If you're traveling anywhere near there make sure to stop in. Well worth a look if you are in the area is Brachina Gorge and the Razorback Lookout / Heyson Range. - Prairie -

I wish I could like this more! Nothing better great outback pubs! I’ll have to definitely pull in on this one through my travels just to try it. Like yourself I’ve had some bloody horrible experiences with local game and even with too tail cooked on the fire my only really good experiences were crocodile 1 out of 4 tries) and Turtle up in the islands of NQ: I would would never expect in a million years that a country pub could give me a memorable experienced, but I’ve been burnt many times before. I’m glad that pubs like this still exist though, You can’t replicate this in a modern pub.

Love the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna. If you want a lux night after camping,they have great accommodation.

The Prairie is an awesome hotel. Sitting right near the western entry to Parachilna Gorge which has some great free camps. As an SA resident, I'm sad to say that I've not been into Bendleby yet. It's definitely on my list though. Perhaps the next trip into the Flinders. I'm glad that you had such a good experience. 😊

Hey Harry, we visited the Prairie Hotel last September and our experience could not be more different to yours. Firstly the service was appalling, the staff were so rude and uninterested in serving us. The menu options were the feral platter or chips. So we said chips, so the put a bag of Smiths chips on the bar and that was it. So we then said we would try the feral platter. It was as expected could not complain about. It was different but a good experience. For an iconic Australian pub I had wanted to visit for so long we left very disappointed. We then drove Maree and had great time at the Maree hotel. Stayed at Rawnsley Station this last week got home today. Did the Parachilna/Brachina gorge loop drive with three other couples. Lunch at the Prarie / Prairie hotel. Me the Roo schnitzel. Good tucker. Last 3 kays on Parachilna drive bastard rock holed tyre. Pluged it out front of Blinman pub while friends drank beer under verandah and told me how to do it. (Thanks Ronny D for the tutorial)

Hawker, Leigh Creek, Parachilna Gorge, Oodnadatta was where for 1 year old to my 20's I spent the most time at. Special place in my heart. I don't know if the Birrell hotel is still going on Parachilna road.
