Co-Owner of The Tour Guy, Sean Finelli, explains what to see and do around the Vatican City.
Rome is an amazing city comprised of many different neighborhoods. They say that six million people per year go to the Vatican City, inside the Vatican museums alone. Where the crowds go, tourist traps tend to follow. It's really important that you know where to go, what to see, how to see it, where to eat, and obviously, where to drink.
Vatican City consists of the Saint Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums. We recommend reserving tickets beforehand and taking a guided tour of the museums.
We also suggest getting breakfast on the go, visiting the outdoor restaurants on Borgo Pio, and trying the panino at Duecento Gradi. Don't miss visiting Dino e Toni for an authentic Roman dining experience and checking out Ponte Sant'Angelo for its historical significance and excellent viewpoint. Lastly, check out our recommendations for a fantastic gelateria and a one-stop shop for Italian brands.

I really like your videos. I'll be visiting Rome for the first time in a few months and I've really been looking for information on what the locals like to do and where they like to eat. I really don't want to get sucked in to the tourist traps. I really want to experience Rome, not just see all the sights. I'll also be visiting Florence and Venice. I was a little nervous about not knowing what to order if I go to a restaurant that only has an Italian menu but I will take your suggestions to heart and "embrace" the experience. I have dreamed of visiting Italy for years because of the history and the culture and I'm very excited that I'll finally get a chance to visit. I've already paid for the plane tickets and accommodations so right now I'm just doing my research on things to do, to see, to experience and the best way to get around. I was in the vatican for the swearing in of the Swiss Guard this year. I learned that best things about the Vatican Neighborhood are the small restaurants behind the Risorgimento. At the Risorgimento itself near every restaurant is an overpriced tourist trap

There is the panino shop 200 Gradi which is very good and right in the square. Also, Pompi is in Risorgimento and is very good, but you go there for tiramisu.

@@TheTourGuyVids Yess. The 200 Gradi is an exception. It is really good. I heard that the Swiss Guards like to go there, because its the best place to get paninis near the Vatican

Close to the Vatican , there Is the restaurant "il passetto di Borgo" where cardinal Ratzinger used to have lunch-dinner before being pope Benedict. I had lunch there several times and i could talk with waiters serving Him.

Its called Bar Giulio Cesare - it's kind of a touristy bar on a high-traffic and crowded street. They simply make that one cornetto fresh and it's really good. I wouldn't sit down or get lunch there.

Vatican's dome Is taller then the US Capitol and It was built in the 16th century. But for americans italians are only Cavemen gesticulating.
