I've owned a pod 2.0 since 2005. The factory settings can all be modified (edited) and by tweaking and adjusting everything you can really find a huge variance of sounds even within one setting. Not to mention switching pickups, adjusting volume and tone on your guitar. It takes a lot of experimenting and tweaking to adjust a factory tone to find that tone you're looking for. But once you find that tone, you can store the edited settings and override the factory setting. But you'd also need to remember (or write down) where the guitar pickup, tone, and volume were set at. Just the slightest variance can change the sound. A good "Jack of all trades" stomp box. And indeed a "master of some". At first I only used the manual settings. It took a while for me to get used to adjusting the factory settings, as when you navigate to a setting (like 9D Roland Jazz Clean) your physical knob settings are overridden by the factory. So if the factory setting has a knob setting programmed at noon, and your physical knob is set lower, at say the 3rd dot (10 O'Clock), by turning it to 4 (11 O'Clock) you've just edited the setting down and not up. So if it's the volume knob, you've turned the volume down one notch instead up up a notch. And the factory settings are not displayed, as as they would be in my Boss Katana Tone Studio. So you need to adjust the knob and hear where it was at, then adjust. But you can vary the cabinet settings, drive, volume, everything. And really find a few "golden sounds" with enough searching.

They are still useful years later and years to come. I have the POD 1.0 that I upgraded to a 2.0 with the EPROM chip swap. You pretty much had to read the upgraded manual at that point to use any of the updated features directly on the unit. But then they've always had a software editor via MIDI that showed all the options. You can set exact delay times, use a boost, use a cocked wah, see everything you can change, and etc with the software editor.

Have this pod since 2016 as my main amp, running thru little Marshall CDR-15 on clean. Not even half way gone thru all options... With additional four pedals: a „Marshall Jackhammer“ and a „Donner giant metal“ overdrive, a looper, and a „Zoom G-ON“ multi-effect, I‘m done. Later will get a wah/volume pedal. Prooves, that READING the MANUAL, guys, is blatantly IMPORTANT! 😝😌 Reading cost you 10 minutes, (marking with a color highlighter), but saves you many hours of searching, guessing, testing, wondering, cussing, pulling hair 'cause of not knowing your device completely. And also saves you lots of money, because you know how to maintain and treat your stuff well, and not selling it one week later because „not liking"🤪😉

I had no idea about the other amps too, and I just found out that there is a hidden boost function for the Drive knob that acts like a Tube Screamer pedal which is activated by holding "Tap" and turning the gain control past 12 o'clock. Well as an ex trucker I dragged an old acoustic all over the country for my whole life and now I'm older and off the road I bought another electric and while shopping for a few pedals because that's how we did it in my day I ran across a pod 2.0 in a pawn shop. They guy talked me into it and I haven't stopped since. I don't even plug into the amp anymore "although it basically saved a shitty sounding Dean Marley K50 from being set on the curb", you don't have to have an amp. What an amazing little machine. I know it's been on the market for a while to all of you but I had no idea effects would be obtained all from one $60 tool. Not a pedal and the FBV express I bought for it wasn't compatible but it drove me to getting a spider 3 30 amp amplifier off of marketplace and actually traded the Dean Markley and an old Harmony guitar for it and love it with my pedals. Line 6 where have you been my whole life? Oh you've been here. Well where was I all my life??? Dragging an acoustic around because I didn't have room for an amp and I had It all along and didn't even know it. Well it's like Christmastime here since I found it so I'm gonna go jam. Later Taters.

@@ChinaguitarscepticLine 6 sent me a link to the editor. I don't know how to send it to you through you tube. I think it is the same line six editor you find when putting in the info for your pod at support download site. There are two programs to look for. Line six editor and line six monkey. Monkey will update firmware if you need or want to. I didn't try my focusrite yet but I bought the fore sub to midi controller on Amazon. It was $16. I chose that one because the comments said their support was good. You have to make sure you plug the adapter in correctly. It is opposite of what you first think. When the program started I had trouble getting the set to recognize my pod. The progress that you have to have the Adaptor set at both only and output Windows didn't do it that way automatically. When the program came up it just showed the library. I finely found the editor in the window drop down. The editor can control the pod and make changes to the presets. Apparently there are presets out there that you can find and load into the pod from the library and callback up any you create. Haven't done much with this yet. Oh, you might have to register your pod to get access to the software. You have to at least create an account. I had no trouble registering mine even though I got it used. Good luck if you try this. I don't know how popular your pod videos were but this might make a good one

I bought one years and years ago from a large music shop on Aire Street in Leeds...the shop is now called PMT. It came with a handbook called, The Pilot's manual...so I knew all about the deep editing that it's capable of. I still use this for recording into my DAW (Adobe Audition 1.5) I record using only headphones, so there are no loud physical amps to mike- up...it's an deal solution. The ultra talented Bill Nelson still uses it this method too...so if it's good enough for him, then it's surely good enough for me. An excellent piece of kit. It only cost £100 brand new...money well spent.

In your experience are there any other all-rounder Classic Rock-bent guitar effects units other than the Pod 2 that have been on the less expensive side, which sound as great as this one? My only complaint is that the Pod is not battery powered? Have you ever tried the Chinese made knock-off aka the Behringer V-amp 2 or 3? If yes, how does it compare? These are pretty inexpensive used and I still use my Pocket POD from time to time.

That's what I'm going through right now and have only had mine for about 5 or 6 weeks, which is exactly how long I've known about it. We used to have to buy a digital delay and overdrive and distortion pedals, don't forget chorus and flanger you gotta have those. So this thing does everything I had the spend many paydays on back then. I know my delay pedal had more adjustment on it as well as the flanger and chorus but wow in one package I have everything I need and it only cost me $60. was definitely ahead of its time but to me something is lacking in its gain/fuzz/overdrive department, but thats just me. digging it mang!

Yes you have to be careful and sympathetic with eq on the high gain tones or they can be very harsh.

Works just as well with an overdrive in front of it

Wow... a POD 2.0 video in 2020. I just found mine in a box somewhere, works fine! I was wondering how to store the presets on my laptop. because the last line6 monkey software doesn't seem to support the 2.0 anymore. any pointers?

I wonder if you can still get older versions

I loved my P.O.D. ver 2. That is until the power supply quit working.. Line 6 doesn't make it anymore, there's no aftermarket makers. Guard that power supply, once it quits your pod is finished.

No it's not and I can tell u how you can run it cordless too!!!! Blackstar makes a rechargeable battery unit that is used for their Blackstar smaller amps so u can play them without being plugged into the wall. I stumbled onto this by accident the other day. I own 2 of the rechargeable Blackstar battery packs and they last a long time too. The cords that the battery pack came with contain one that fits the Line#6 POD 2.0 perfectly , and only this unit and that's it!!....crazy!!!.....I just guessed it might work and it did - I can take the POD now anywhere and use it as a battery powered mini amp/rack unit now .....crazy !!!!......the BLACKSTAR battery pack can be purchased on Amazon for $80 (Reverb.com for $70) and it's part # PSU-PB-1-VD (model SKO2T -15001002 made by SIMSUKIAN) it comes with international adapters for any wall outlet - they clip in or out of the adapter....cool as hell!!!!!...the PB stands for Power Bank .......it also lights up as a flashlight too and has 5 blue lights on top that tell you when it's charged or depleted......best of luck!!!.....the POD 2.0 RULES !!!!!!! Update - yes -Amazon carries it for $80 (small quantities left) but you can buy it on Reverb.com for $69.99 and it's the same exact one I have and use ....good luck!!!.......AND there are full manuals online to print that detail everything if you lost or misplaced your booklet. The manuals online go much further in Depth explaining all the hidden features of the POD 2.0 ....very easy to find and print!!!.....nowadays you can find any manual from any era online easily and print them. I do this all the time when I am out at resale shops searching for hidden gems,I look up the manuals to see how the gear works !!! Thank dog for the internet!!!!

Hi John, I followed this up with line 6 for you and you'll be delighted to know that there is still an aftermarket psu available for the pod and many other line 6 products. It's the PX-2G and here is a link for you : www.google.com/search?q=line+6+px+2+g&rlz=1C1GCEB_enDE842DE842&oq=line+6+px+2+g&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l6.3201j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 It's around £20 and its the approved replacement. I hope this gets you back up and running mate! 👍😊

You can use a laptop power supply, it'll have the correct voltage and higher amperage. Or head down to the local goodwill and start trying some
