Information for people who found this video by accident and don’t know what in the world The ‘SU: Future REWRITTEN’ thing is: I’ve re-writtten the ending of Steven Universe Future because I felt the story was a bit incomplete, and I started to make episodic chapters for it and posting it. It’s not really my best, but I already spent the time making it, so… here it is. I wanted to explore the POV of Steven’s Gem during all of this - his Gem isn’t just ‘evil Steven’, it really doesn’t know the harm it’s doing. It’s just scared for him and will do anything to defend Steven, even if the things Steven is afraid of aren’t real threats. I never actually thought of Steven’s Gem as “evil”. I knew that Steven’s gem is very overly protective towards him but I also feel like Stevens’s gem is like Steven’s fight or flight reflexes. But in the end of the video, Steven’s Gem finally gets to feels whole again. And Steven finally gets to be human.

The thing about diamonds in mysticism is that they're said to amplify energy, especially emotions. Good energy/emotions is extra good around diamonds. Bad energy or negative emotions are worse around diamonds, too. It's said to contribute to marriages failing. Dunno how I feel about that information, but given that Rebecca Sugar seems to be aware of mystical gem properties, it could've been at least part of why she had diamonds be the top of the hierarchy (even though IRL, regardless of what propaganda has made people think to the contrary, diamonds are actually extremely common and shouldn't be as expensive as they are.) So it could be applied to Steven Universe. His highs were higher because of his diamond, and his lows were lower. Doesn't mean that his gem is bad or anything, it's just amplifying his energy.

I like the use of the butterflies for fear, the one point where Steven yells for P.S. to go away has a butterfly on his head; then when the butterflies fly away symbolizes letting go of those fears and healing cause of it. I love it and it’s just so beautiful ahhhgaaa.

I had already loved the idea of the gem as its own character, the concept was amazing in and of itself, but the fact that it actually couldn't think or speak to anyone besides Steven hurt but also made sense. He felt alone because for the most part he was. And the person he could talk to hated and resented him up until the end. I truly love how when they become one again, it's like gem steven is free from being trapped in the gem and they are fully whole again.❤️

You fixed that. You went through the entire process, giving me the closure that I really wanted. So with that being said, thank you. You put your blood, sweat, and tears into this project. Oh this animation is so good you never knew how scared pink Steven was of everyone and everything I see all he wanted was to have someone to talk to but during Steven outburst with his gem he felt like he had no one to talk to and this is basically a good recap of the rewrite epilogue the last scene was so cute and amazing seeing that pink Steven finally became at peace with his human half and let Steven be a human.

I don't think it did, actually. It's why he had to leave. If everything was fine, he would've stayed. But it wasn't. He needed space. He needed a chance to grow, to find a new goal. A chance to fully heal without the reminders of the bad times. That hug didn't fix him. It just taught him that he was not alone, that he did not have to be okay. He finally had someone return the favor after he helped them for so long. That even at his worst, the people around him thought he was worth the effort. It brought him back from the edge, but it didn't erase his pain. It was the first step to the healing process, not the last.

B R U H This one hurt me. it really puts into perspective on how much both of them were hurt, and although you can tell his gem was just trying to protect him, nothing made it as clear as this. He had to call Steven to action since he couldn't do anything himself. No one else can see or hear him. He's distrustful, and hurt, and scared. He had to heal just as much as his human half did. Excellent animation, Kiwi! The improvement is stunning!

Stevens gem is a metaphor for our amygdala/brain’s wiring. I get it, I used to hate my brain too for fucking with me so much, but really all it ever wanted was to keep me safe. After facing conditions where your brain was taught that certain things are threatening, it begins to work accordingly. It’s just trying to keep you safe, even though it’s doing more harm than good. But through therapy and doing the hard work, you can show it otherwise and re-wire it to heal ❤

Heyo, it’s been a little while since I commented on something rewrite related, but I think it’s time for another essay about this space rock fanfic! First off, THIS ANIMATION IS FRICKIN SMOOTH AND EVERYTHING ABOUT IT JUST SCREAMS AND OOZES SYMBOLISM! I could honestly go on forever on every detail of symbolism I could find, but I’ll list some of my favorites: -I like how Steven’s pink half sees everything except his father as some type of monster that caused him immense pain. The gems caused so much fear in his life to the point where his pink half can’t even decide whether to trust them, but Greg’s always there for him no matter what. It’s really nice to see that father-son bond. -The way “scarred” Steven and “pink” Steven are connected at the gem by some kind of umbilical cord (yes, I looked up how it was spelled) is such a freaky idea, but it really shows that the two are one in the same and one cannot live without the other. They almost seem like conjoined twins in a weird kind of way, it’s just that his pink half is much more overprotective to keep both of them alive. -Small little detail but I liked how you compared what Steven’s monster would look like if it was just him rather than being fused with Connie. One of the first videos I watched of yours before I got into the Rewrite was the whole corruption biology video, and boy was it interesting! Crazy stuff, but it was really darn detailed! ALSO THAT SCENE WHERE HE WAS BEING HELD UP BY WHITE DIAMOND GAVE ME CHILLS! And of course, I could state the more obvious symbols, like Steven’s scars getting better over time, or how the butterflies represent anxiety, but these are the details I liked the most. I’m going to try and write a reply to this comment more about how much I relate to Steven mentally, but that might be a bit too venty, so I’ll keep that separated. I just really wanted you to know that this Rewrite is beautiful, and has been helping me cope a lot lately when I’ve been having a lot of stress. Thank you for this, Kiwi 🥝💖🥝

Everytime I watch this I hold back tears, this is so beautiful, and just the way every moment syncs with the music and builds and dips with the emotion and pain. I'm nearly at the end of listening to the Epilogue (probably shouldn't be watching this video yet but I couldn't help it lol) and it has been an amazing journey listening to all the chapters. Your writing is fantastic and the way you deliver each piece is, once again, full of emotion (your SCREAMS!! This is so well done! Seeing everything in Rewritten from Steven's gem perspective is just so interesting. It's just trying to protect Steven after years of trauma. And it doesn't know what harm it's doing. When Steven stood up to and talked with his gem in Rewritten, it hit me hard. And seeing this now, it hits even harder. I loved seeing this. AHH! This is amazing! The way you show how everything looks from Steven's gem is so good! The brighter/higher contrast colors, the lack of background (often only showing objects and ppl that Steven would be focusing on, so Steven's gem not being able to notice if they're in a room or outside or etc.) Also I'm realizing as I'm writing this the gem at first sees Ragus as a judge (judging Steven, obv) and with many eyes to symbolize looking and judging, AAA, genius! Also the scars from White and Steven pulling out gem and then they're healed but not gone in the end is great. Also Steven glowing being the gem's way of communicating to Greg/others that something was wrong sheds a whole new light on the rewrite (hey, that kinda rhymed). Also gem wanting to yell at the butterflies but human half Steven telling gem not to and gem having to not react for them to go away was just Aaahhhharcuvkogwwfbofvshbxgbnjfcn! My point that is i really liked this video and you making these animations and music video things and memes about your own fanfiction is inspiring /gen /pos connotation

I- I'm so touched, I feel emotionally violated I GOTTA ADMIT, I HAVEN'T FINISHED LISTENING TO THE AUDIOS, BUT I PRETTY MUCH UNDERSTAND WHAT WENT DOWN KIWI, YOU TRULY ARE A QUEEN. Man, it makes you think deeply about mental illness, huh. I kinda relate too. Except not as extreme. I'm sure many people can relate to this more than the original SUF. My favorite thing is having Steven's normal form be corrupted afterwards. I relate because when I was going through the worst of my mental crisis, I kept cutting my hair shorter and shorter and shorter just to spite myself. I used to have beautiful long hair that reached my upper legs, but I just cut it all off. Today, my therapist says I'm almost ready to 'graduate' therapy. My hair is still very short, it almost reaches my shoulders, but just like steven one day returned to his normal form, it'll one day grow back to the length I loved it at. But this story also made me love my current hair more because it's a PHYSICAL symbol of what I've endured and got out of better and stronger. Praise, KiwiQueen :')

I know I already commented on the recent video but I just can't help but relate to pink stevie boi a bit. what I go through is that my parents some times restrict me from electronics(yeah yeah parent stuff ig), but I feel so bored all the time without able to watch, play, or talking to others(please don't suggest I talk to my family, I try to avoid doing that) online. I just lay down, attempt to talk to myself pretending I'm talking to someone I love(just friends), or walk around trying to get thoughts in. All in my room, where I feel like I'm safe. Of course I sometimes do that when I'm too nervous to go outside if I woke up too early.
