Steven Universe: The Alternate Ending (Comic Dub)

(I can't believe I haven't gotten around to commenting on this yet, please forgive me!!!!) When I wrote/drew this comic in 2020, I did not even consider making a tie between the two of the endings. I just decided to make two endings as a sort of comic-layout experiment - BUT THE WAY THAT YOU TIED THEM TOGETHER??? INCREDIBLE!!!! I could not have done it better myself!!!! I am SO impressed you've made my old comic (veeery old... im still cringing at some of the drawings, especially on the first page XDD) this dynamic and well-flowing. I will forever love your work!!! KEEP IT UP!!! ❤💕✨⭐❤❤ Also I have to mention, 'His Theme' from Undertale is SURPRISINGLY fitting for this comic, and I love how you put it in!!! :D (also just a lil fun fact... I drew the first page of this comic about 5 months before I had the idea to write Partners In Crime. Just thought I'd share this detail!!! ^^)

The interesting thing about Steven and his connection to his mother is the sheer fact that he learns everything about her in reverse. First about his relationship with Greg, then, when she was resistants leader, the hints that she kept secrets from everyone including pearl which when you tie that in with the big secret that she was keeping for pink, it has just had a little extra layer of hurt when she found out the pink was keeping secrets even from her. The whole issue with spinel was basically pink diamond, believing that she needed to be serious now that she had earth. I’m being serious means putting away all of your toys.

these were two separate comics. Phoenix did the bad ending first then, to combine the comics into one, Steven claimed the "bad ending" was a vision Garnet showed him where he and Spinel died in Pink's garden and the "good ending" was what actually happened, at least in the context of Phoenix's dub

these two comics had nothing to do w/ each other, besides the main scene, but you flowed them together so flawlessly! while watching the comic dub and reading your description, i was still on the "bad ending" side of the comic so i was wondering "How in the hell could you connect this to the good ending besides pulling a cliche 'oh, it was just a nightmare'? That probably wouldn't even flow well anyway, so how???" but then you pulled a narration explaining it was a Garnet vision Steven had seen and had it flow into the "good ending" comic of "what actually happened" and how Steven altered the future Garnet foresaw. you did such an amazing job!

Man, I hate how Pink is so vilified by the SU community, she made awful mistakes but so did so many other characters on the show, yet SU fans demonize her simply because she's gone and can't defend herself anymore. That's just my opinion though, you did a great job VA this comic! :)

She’s vilified because every chance she had to make the right decision she chose the wrong one. She abandoned Spinel in the garden instead of I don’t taking her back to Homeworld and telling her to mingle while she’s gone, she ignored the pain she caused to every gem, she didn’t take the five seconds it would have taken to realize her shattering plan was completely f-ing stupid, she chose to bubble Bismuth instead of explain her ideals and reasons for not shattering gems (there are very good reasons not to), she ignored the potential of humanity choosing to hide from them instead, she didn’t mature at all until she met Greg, she let the diamonds control her despite being more powerful than them, she hid her identity from everyone for thousands of years when that information was important, she assumed homeworld would never return, etc. She learned nothing in five thousand years and left all that baggage on her kid. The only good thing she did since starting the rebellion was having Steven at least he understood that these problems needed to be solved.

@@ntfoperative9432 No starting the rebellion as Rose Quartz was legitimately the best way to start the war. If the rebellion had started with Pink the full might of Homeworld would have crushed her and Pearl immediately. I personally made my own what if scenario where the rebellion was successful. The plan involved uniting and training the humans who use the same kind of weapons as Rose because we know her sword can harm diamonds, revealing herself and requesting not demanding that anyone who might want to join them do so (judging by how quickly gems took to era three it’s no stretch to assume a lot of new recruits) throwing Homeworld into disarray, then using Peridot as a base have the new science gems working on further weapon creation (if peridot is any indication by the time Homeworld regains its composure they’ll have enough to outfit the entire army), on the day of battle use various squadrons including someone in the leg ship to strike down the diamond vessels then take out the diamonds, and last but not least once you have the diamonds as hostages send Homeworld back to the stone age by performing a raid to steal and or destroy their remaining tech.
