Meth, or methamphetamine, a psychostimulant, has taken over the Indian rave scene, leaving heroin and cocaine far behind in the race. From Afghan Meth being smuggled into India to being cooked in small sophisticated labs - Meth is the go to drug now. This has a lot to do with its access, production, cost and potency. Last week, the Greater Noida Police busted one such clandestine lab, arrested 9 foreign nationals and seized high purity Meth worth Rs 200 crore. There needs to be clarity on what can be categorised as legal and illegal drugs and there needs to strict regulation and vigil at the various ports, airports and all other threat prone areas and systematic checks at pharmacy and other outlets for keeping checks and effectively curbing the illegal drugs getting imported adhoc and also any attempted home grow cooking of the synthetic drugs of sorts!! else they will news items to discuss forever with no plausible action on ground!! May be specific act notifying the legal drugs pricing production mechanisms and import regulations is need of hour!!
