For cheap and inexpensive security devices - Solder your horn to the main power wire and put a hidden toggle switch in series. If someone gets the power turned on - the horn will blow until they find the hidden switch. Time is your ally - not theirs. Soldering the wire on the horn prevents slipping a simple spade. I put a hidden toggle in series with my handlebar kill switch. If you don't find that switch you'll never start my bike.
@Cornmolio2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, most if the time they just grab the bike and throw it on a trailer. My buddy’s bike just got stolen like that. But this would be good in combination with a chain locked to a post.
@mixter7x72 жыл бұрын
@@Cornmolio Yes- there are also disc locks that work well. However - as you said. If they want your bike - and they come equipped - they are taking your bike. I can steal nearly anything I want to take. Locks only slow me down a minute. I can go right through your locks. If I want your car / bike / boat etc - I can take it. The good news is - I’m not a thief and more likely I would return your wallet with the money still inside it just because it’s the right thing to do.
@Cornmolio2 жыл бұрын
@@mixter7x7 The disc locks don’t lock your bike to a fixed object. Go look up videos of bikes getting stolen. A chain and lock that can’t be defeated by bolt cutters will cause most thieves to not bother going further. Angle grinder makes too much noise and most don’t have the finesse or the tools to defeat a good lock quietly. The disc lock won’t stop them from loading it on the dolly and driving away in seconds. Lock the bike to a sign post or something.
@mixter7x72 жыл бұрын
@@Cornmolio People are using recip saws to steal cat converters. Noise ? I can remove a cat converter in less than 60 seconds. I have a portable torch that will cut any lock or chain in less than 30 seconds with almost no sound at all. Again respectfully - If I want it - I'm going to take it. I don't want it because it's not mine. I didn't work for it . It wasn't given to me. It belongs to someone else. Maybe a tilt switch to set off a horn would be good. If you tilt the bike more than x degrees from it's kickstand angle - the horn will sound. That would require a protractor and some switching circuits.
@Cornmolio2 жыл бұрын
@@mixter7x7 If you have an idea that’s one level up from chaining it to a fixed object, I’d love to hear it. Since you’re the expert. I’m saying a chain is one level up from a disc lock or ignition kill, because it requires attention before loading on a dolly. I guess an airtag would be the next thing up, but I’m talking more mechanical means to prevent theft rather than electronically finding it after the fact.

I say Torch, drill and tap when folks use the red; I'm not sayin' you're wrong, but I have had my enough experience with the red, and I dont know how much they used; it would be cool to know how much they used on it; I know that petroleum products fk the bond up also, as they prevent the epoxy contact with metal
@davidchereneimmel88202 жыл бұрын
@@ClintL63 yes red can be a bugger for sure, they actually have a newer one that is orange it has the hold of red but no heat needed. I have used that a few times where red was required and has done real good and you can get it loose by hand without heat. The reason to much is not good is it has to be oxygen free in order to cure, and to much just doesn't cure the same and can actually migrate other areas. So less is more. They also have a newer one that can take petroleum residue and cure was well. I have no experience with that.

When I started 'roaming' away from the folks place, my Pop taught me to carry a spare car and house door key in that little zippered pocket of my wallet, which is chained to my belt. Yeah, he had one before me. Can't remember how many times this brilliant idea opened the door I locked my keys on the other side of. But these new-fangled 🤬'barrel-keys' like the one for my '97 Roadking killed that idea! 🤬 My Silverado has that big plastic chip housing top on it, but I got a plain, non-chip key cut to open the door, and got that in my wallet too. And since I started carrying my key ring clipped onto the same heavy-duty leather belt loop and D-rind as my wallet chain, I've never lost a set of keys.
