Glad you think so! Many people are surprised when they hear their environment can trigger their pain.

Living with chronic pain means your body becomes more sensitive to environmental changes, especially temperature. As a motorcycle enthusiast who rode your bike into your late 50s, you now notice how the cold affects you differently than before your pain began. This heightened sensitivity is due to your nervous system becoming more reactive. Environmental management can help without breaking the bank: 1. Layer clothes strategically; 2. Install weatherstripping to eliminate drafts; 3. Use targeted heating in frequently used spaces; 4. Monitor weather forecasts to plan activities. Remember, these changes aren’t limitations - they’re adaptations that help you maintain your quality of life while managing pain effectively.

I can’t live without my blackout drapes, suffering from chronic facial pain and occasional migraines they are a lifesaver. I am curious about temperature controlled bedding I’ve heard a little bit about it but don’t know a lot about it. Would be curious what to look at as far as blankets that would be temperature controlled. I live in California but it does get cold here at night. And sun doesn’t hit our place in the winter so it’s pretty darn cold during the day even though it’s warm outside.

Blackout curtains can be a game changer for some. I like recommending them because they’re available from a low price point that’s functional all the way up to a premium price. Some people find temperature control bedding reduces inflammation, improve sleep quality, prevent nights sweats & maintain an optimal body temperature for rest & recovery. The price range for temperature control bedding can range from basic cooling sheets and pillowcases costing $30-$100. The cooling mattress toppers & pads start around $50 & go all the way up to very high end products. Some people choose to use weighted blankets that have a budget level option of $30-$70. The weighted blankets can promote the release of serotonin & melatonin & reduce anxiety & stress that amplify pain. It may also help relax tense muscles & improve sleep quality. Some people with fibromyalgia report that it reduces their symptoms.
