Great job! Conneaut Lake Park is one of those hidden gems. Going there to ride the Blue Streak is worth the trip. And you can't beat $10 to ride all day!

Great job, I enjoyed listening to your video. I am 49 years old and my Family has been going to Connieat since the 70s. It really was the most Beautiful Clean Park in the world 35-45 years ago! Every Spring they would plant hundreds of flower pots all over the Park. Everything was painted fresh from the Benches to tbe Midway games! Over the years somehow the Park slowly fell apart? The rides got older and either were sold away or just torn down from age? Then the Two Arson fires that ruined the Beach Club or American Pie? That was the name of the Beautiful Bar/ Dance Club that over looked the Beech for over 80 Years. Also the storied CONVENTION Hall that was burned down. A lot of people didn't know that the Convention Hall had a huge storage and repair shop in the basement. So a lot of the rides thatvwere either being stored or repaired in the offseason unfortunately parrished in the fire as well. Ironically that Convention Hall had a Jail cell for people that got out of control back in the 30s thru the 60s...It was located at the Northeast end of the Hall right past the Pizza shop and the Bathrooms. Directly across from tbe old Post office you showed in your video.....I could tell you much.much more about the Park if you have the time hit me up? Thanks again for sharing such a nice video of my All Time Favorite Park !!!

@@amusementnow4416 At one time during the late 80s and early 90s CLP Had a ride called the Sea Dragon. It was set up just across the street from the Boardwalk down by the Beech. Fun Fact for you : That very SAME RIDE is active and running at Waldameer Park in Erie P.A....I was told years back that it was sold to Waldameer due to increasing Financial hardship......

@@domenicmartucci140 I have heard some people say this but have never gotten any confirmation. I have had the owner as well as a former Waldameer mechanic tell me that they have never purchased used rides, but maybe an exception was made for this one.

What made my day about this change of conneaunt lake Park of the entrance that got rid of the crazy traffic it is hard to get to the rides restroom and to the midway. It was hard with cars, trucks and semi trucks coming thru made it hard to get across the street. I am so glad of these changes that rid of it of the traffic and made it safer for the kids to get to the rides as well

Driving thru the park was a major "cruise" on weekends. We'd stop and grab a couple orders of fries and just cruise thru for a couple of hours. For me this was the early thru late 80s. One of the best arcades anywhere. I worked there in 82-83 mainly doing catering for the big picnics and conventions on weekends, but worked the Blue Streak stand and cotton candy during the week. Maybe that's where I got my love for cooking!!

Great video! Would love to hear about or see pictures from the double Ferris wheel that was located down by the lake. Conneaut was such a great park back in the 70s and 80s. Nothing like your Mom and Dad driving through the park yelling out the window while you were in line waiting for the blue streak...def will never ever see that at any parks!

Very nice presentation, thank you so much. A long long time ago, my parents would take us there, once every summer, but that was when the Storybook Forest was still there. I was sad when I read it was gone. I live close to the Park now, but I no longer have anyone to go with me, so I have been looking things up on KZbin. This was refreshing.

AWESOME VIDEO It is great to see some youth of today are still interested in history! I was blessed to grow up in the 80's when this park was in its hay day! I have MANY wonderful childhood memories of this place! And also back in the mid 80's That jungle river ride was still operational! I LOVED IT but was scared to death of that big animatronic Ape that was originally featured back there! The last I remember seeing it was on top of the Ultimate Trip ride back in the 90's! Sadly this park is no longer and the beloved Blue Streak historical land mark was Destroyed Last week 1/04/2022!😭

The Jungle Cruise was pretty cool, it was kinda like a safari and the island in the middle had a few straw huts like a Native village along with native tribe looking mannequins. The grass was high around the village and there lurking in the tall grass was the big ape like KING KONG! It moved and roared pretty loud! Sadly they closed the cruise he to alle the algae and weeds from the water clogging up the boat propellers. The ride was often down off and on throughout the day while crews repaired the boat. It for sure was an interesting ride.

So many fun rides at the park in the 70's & 80's. The Flying Scooters was by the Round Up. There was a bounce house next to the Wild Mouse. The Ferris Wheel spent many years at the front of the park and just a little ways down the Scrambler. Then when the Fun House became too much of a liability, all the walls were taken down and the Scrambler was moved inside of that building to become the Ultimate Trip. The funhouse mirrors were mounted on the walls along with neon posters. Black lights and a disco ball hung in the center, turn up the music and it was a great ride.

Oof, I always assumed there were laws preventing theme parks from even operating in such a state of disrepair. As cool as it is that it's independently owned, I think Cedar Fair or some other theme park chain would really turn the place around if they bought it.

Alex Pr Six Flags ruined Geauga Lake. Due to its debt, they didn’t take care of the park the way they should have, and they dumped the responsibility on Cedar Fair. By 2007 Geauga Lake was a financial burden. With Cedar Point not too far away anyway, Geauga Lake became redundant. Sad, but it was inevitable.

I'm gen z (younger than millenials) but I totally get the way parks like this are supposed to be. I went to CLP on a $5 Sunday in 2017 (and gosh am I glad I did given what Todd Joseph has done to the place since he bought it, won't be going back ever). It was absolutely slammed, like what you expect in black and white pictures of places like Coney Island. I absolutely loved Blue Streak, Devil's Den, and Tumble Bug. I preferred the CLP Tumble Bug to Kennywood's because the fully stainless steel seats allow you to slide around more like the ride was designed to do. I didn't find Blue Streak rough, it had been recently retracked as was obvious looking at the track. While I do think Lakemont is a worthy replacement for a truely historic park with their wooden coasters (both using skid breaks and their classic trains, Skyliner having buzbars and Leap the Dips having 0 restraint) and of course the utilization of the lake it will never replicate the historic ambiance except maybe on the same day as a baseball game next door which I hope to go to one this summer where they'll have their mascot riding the Skyliner (even so I doubt it, we're talking about the minor league affiliate of a team that might not even finish over 500 in the minors).
