Another woodland English sparkling wine tasting. This time a Sussex producer called Hidden Spring. A fox also came to say hello towards the end. Bought from Hawkins Bros: www.hawkinsbro...

Foxes sometimes will trust you to be hand fed. I’ve seen it myself. He’s fond of you. You are blessed

Is it odd that I don't like wine, but I enjoy these videos?

We all end up watching odd things we wouldn't expect to be interested in here on KZbin! I try and include some scenery and/or greenery in these videos when I can, maybe that helps?

@@LovelyLambLunch The great thing about KZbin is that on any given topic many other presenters are available! Although maybe not a huge amount of choice for English sparkling wine.

Good afternoon, Tweedy. Another interesting bottle. I didn't know about different bottle pressures - I will need to read up on that 🤔 I hope the offending tooth doesn't play you up too much over the weekend.

Brave man taking that on with toothache. It sounds like it should be sold at all good school tuck shops!! It had a really nice colour to it. Should the fox have a tasting bowl? ..... Actually maybe he or she has - fast asleep at the end, no I think he got mixed up with Tweedies and was expecting that outdoors man with a spork and some tasty morsel!! Great intro and outro, well done!!

Thanks David! Yes I've never seen a fox lie down like that during one of these "visits". I don't know if you could tell from the short clips but it was limping a bit, it had obviously hurt one of its legs and was probably a bit worn out. I felt quite honoured that he or she deemed my presence to be sufficiently unthreatening to take a short nap there.

I associate "struck match" with burning sulphur which isn't particularly appealing although more appealing than pure sulphur which is straight up rotten eggs. I had a friend that preferred his Greenking IPA to be sulphurous and would go on hunts for the most sulphurous IPA he could find which ended up being from a pub in Plaistow which wasnt really surprising

Hello. I used to buy Prosecco and the cork wouldnt pop, had to force the corks out...and now I look for traditional method. You mentioned petrol taste, I used to say 'petrol' taste when I didn't like a white wine, so interesting to see its a recognised thing! Cant believe the beautiful fox, and now seeing again see the hurt paw.😢

I think I read somewhere - although it may well be apocryphal - that Prosecco is less well suited for sabrage for that reason. Possibly - and this might also be nonsense - because the glass in Prosecco bottles tends to be a bit weaker, given that it doesn't need to withstand quite the same pressure. Therefore when striking it with a sword there's a higher chance the whole thing will just shatter! Yes I found the fox mesmerising. This was Hampstead Heath, so the foxes I see there are somewhat urban, and they're a obviously a lot more accustomed to people than a fox in a remote area of countryside would be... but still it was quite magical that it got so close, and even felt sufficiently unthreatened that it seemed to have a short nap in my presence. Perhaps that was partly influenced by that injured leg though, and it was just really exhausted...?

@EnglishSparklingWine surely Prosecco isn't worthy of Sabrage, (not that I'd heard of it before your videos.) Now I'm worried that the fox was expecting you to help with the paw...

@@Chilternwildcamper Yes perhaps that sense of ceremony would be a bit lost on Prosecco! I agree foxes may be a lot more intelligent than we give them credit for. Possibly, particularly these urban foxes, might have learned that humans have the capacity to help them. It's hard to know what the correct response should be in a situation like this - if it was somehow trapped I would have done my best to free it... but it was still mobile, and at any point when I so much as leaned forward or made any sudden noises it looked flighty and backed off a bit.

@@EnglishSparklingWine if you take a lame fox to the vet they will put it down, best to let him rely on his intelligence

@@EnglishSparklingWine The fox probably felt vulnerable with an injured paw and was seeking a bit of protection by sitting with you. I reckon it was getting good vibes from you and you helped it feel safe.
