Thanks for joining me for another adventure. Hoped you enjoyed this look at the Lehigh Canal Park. Btw, did you catch the bloopers at the end?

The buildings were Pump houses by the locks. They had to raise and lower the water levels when opening and closing gates, could not happen without pump houses. Thank you for the video, I miss living in PA so much. And this storm (Hurricane) we just got in Florida is another reason to miss PA. Maybe God is telling me go back to the cold winters? I lived in the Chambersburg/Waynesboro area's of PA. Would of loved to meet you along my exploring PA, MD, Va, WV. Started exploring about 1980, to bad I did not have way to film it back then, Lol. Looking forward to the next video, Peace, Love, God Bless.

Ok, that was a really fun day. So many cool things to see along the way. Feeling the history as we went and the laughs along the way were much needed and the shots from the camera assistant turned out great. Thank you for letting me help you with that part and for showing me the cool stuff you found on your previous journey. I am definitely looking forward to that winter return trip.

Nice explore. @40:00, you can continue. My wife and I did a video at the Parryvile area where there is a bigger lock.The D&L trail takes you under 476 turnpike bridge which is huge!!

That is so cool. So much history. Wouldn't it be awesome if the canal was able to take people on small excursions on the water. I am in awe with the history there. ✌

Hi Jay, some neat history that I did take the time to read. Those cold storage area's were very cool, I found out the bigger 1 of the two was in fact a fruit cellar, I will post info and pic on your FB page. That was some awesome filming catching that Canadian Goose in flight, a great catch. Your photography and filming has come on in leaps and bounds since you started. Some great research and a great adventure with some cool bloopers lol. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤

Thank you to your "hoppity friend 🐸" and your camera man ..great job , RJ.👍 Another awesome video , Jay . You never disappoint !

The trail actually does continue through the cement plant and goes for a little farther. There is an amazing lock (size) down there you missed on the other side of the concrete plant. However, the park does end there at Parryville where the Pohopoco Creek meets the Lehigh. Love you covering places near where I live. It's an amazing area to explore with lots to see.

Really interesting history and the buildings again have such amazing construction. It’s unbelievable to think they were constructed long ago. The canal is so cool, there is so much to see! What a beautiful park to explore! It was so neat to see all the nature too, frogs, fish, and geese and can’t forget the crickets. RJ did an awesome job filming and the bloopers are so funny! 😂 Great video JP! Thank you!

Your in my back yard. Hope you hit Chantilly Ice-cream in Wiessport. They also have some cool penny Candy that is no longer a penny"L" If you went straight on the road, it would take you to the Lehigh canal Park which is across from Riverwalck restaurant. Thanks for the video:)

Will definitely have to check that out in the future. Thank you for the recommendation. And I did show him that the park was there with another lock. And oddly enough, Riverwalck is where him and I first met 3 years ago when I bought his old Panasonic Camera from him.

Very interesting area and history. I am curious about the cold cellars/storage buildings. It is hard to tell from the video. Were they close enough to the canal to have been used in storing/holding freight being transported on the canal?
@JPVideos812 жыл бұрын
They were 50ft or less from the canal
@tehchop85282 жыл бұрын
In the winter time when the canals froze over they would harvest the ice out and save it in those cold storage cellers/ ice houses

J and J, That's a really interesting area. It m would have been well maintained at one time because those signs must have described an historical area, but now everything is falling and decaying. There has to be archival information about the Cold storage and Spring. What do you think? Rik

at first i thought it may have been a lock tenders shack. but i would think it may have been a smoke house. the hams could hang and cure a long time. i suspect that the American canals and lockes operated similar to yje ones in England. There is a vast written history in many stories and movies about those.

I was gonna suggest that maybe the bridge to nowhere waz made so that maintenance or repairs could be made if needed or even so they could construct the rail bridge supports etc Im no expert but i do know that premix concrete delivery pouring trucks arent 4wheel drive and arent yer averafge half ton pickup And would need a easy way to deliver unload and then exit site or just heavy duty trucks able to haul the gravel sand masonry lye etc materials to make concrete onsite would need easy in and out access same with any heavy equipment if repairs or scheduled msintence was required Rail bridges and the area surrounding them are federal property so that bridge might just of been made due to the heavy equipment that would need access to what would be construction site originallly And cost of creating the lower bridge would be figured into rwil bridge contruction estimate as required cost due to its lication etc etc
