I think the reason some folks like myself point out the production quality or lack thereof, is the opening credits look high res, but then the video doesn't. Still enjoy watching these episodes.

20 years ago, when this was made, the technology they used was primitive. Today, yeah, this looks awful. But back then when you were watching on standard definition computer monitors, it wasn't so bad. At the time they were using lightwave 5.6 or something which came out in 1999, right around the time they made this. It was highly advance CGI software for the time. It could render the CGI shots in vastly superior quality than what they could achieve with the standard definition camera they had at the time. I believe they basically filmed this in a bedroom with a green screen and probably the ceiling light. Much later in the series the quality vastly improved as the HD era of technology was beginning to become more widely available. We'll see what they can do with the new follow up series they're starting.

I was under the impression that the traveler didn't give Wesley any special abilities as much as he helped him tap into latent abilities he was born with.

Did they really use variation of a scene from The West Wing?

One thing that has always buggered me about this episode is how they made Wesley second officer, but then we never saw him again after this episode.
@alexandergarcia68152 жыл бұрын
Maybe his assignment was cut short. It may even justify the deleted scene in Star Trek Nemesis where he appeared at Riker and Troi's wedding.
@ChristinaMoore792 жыл бұрын
But this series takes place later than the wedding, so... *shrug*
@pangaeawriter87662 жыл бұрын
@@ChristinaMoore79 Season 1 was during Voyager's final season in 2377. Riker and Troi married 2379, during season 3 of Hidden Frontier. In episode 2x04, we learn Wesley transferred off Excelsior as part of the research team into the quantum slipstream research team Voyager brought back.

13:48 minutes in and I have a question or two... "Why is No. 1 constantly asking the Captain what he is doing and why he is doing it and what his plans are?" Don't they talk and plan together? Doesn't the first officer know anything about anything?
@radiofreeman9 жыл бұрын
***** I think the point they're trying to make is that she questions everything regardless of the situation. And she apparently missed a staff meeting lol

RadioFreeman The beautiful thing about staff meetings on a starship is that they are recorded. She is so far out of the loop she's in dry dock.

Can Galaxy-X-classes beam through shields now?
@carlo18317 жыл бұрын
They can beam through their own shields. They have ways of modulating their own shields that makes this possible. But they can't beam through another ship's shields which is why they had to take down the greys' shields.

Very entertaining, but Wesley was not qualified to be the 2nd officer. A 2nd officer is 3rd in command. He or she must qualify for command before they are assigned this position. See "Thine Own Self" from TNG. Season 7 episode 16. Basically you have to be ready to order a friend to his death if that's what is required to save the ship.
@GeppettoProductions3 жыл бұрын
I agree. He should've been made Assistant Chief Science Officer or something like that.. Robin Lefler is a Lt. Cmdr. makes more sense that she would be 2nd officer as well as Chief Engineer (same as Scotty).

It would have been so nice to have the respect to credit Gene Roddenburry for the creation of Star Trek for which they are getting utube revenue for, if he hadn't have created Star Trek, these people wouldn't have got paid for this..... Its called RESPECT, shame these people (unlike every other person who has made fan films has)..... Thumbs down again for no respect. Its not hard to write "created by...." unlike the other multitude of credits they put up for the insignificant people in this compared to the creator of Trek himself.... Disgusted in the lack of respect
