As a former breeder, she could have a single puppy or a false pregnancy. Even if it is false she would still produce milk. The digging, she is nesting. It is normal to dig a hole or trench as a den. Good luck! Don't let her go 10 days past. A normal dog pregnancy is 63 days. If she hasn't had any by 5 days past, you need to taher to the vet for an xray. If it's a singleton, she may not go into labor. You don't want the puppy to pass and make Kora sick.

I haven't bred large dogs, but I did breed Jack Russell's years ago. If she is pregnant you would definitely be able to feel the babies moving just by lightly placing your hands on her belly towards the sides. My dogs would be normal when I would lay her on her belly and you see the puppies will move around. I also went to Walmart and bought a baby heart beat and use that to check her uterus. Love you all bunches. Those darns babies are so cute

Cora certainly doesn't look pregnant. Gestation is around 63 days. During a false pregnancy the can lactate and they will nest. They can also take a favorite toy and fixate on it and mother it. If she was pregnant you would see her tummy bulge, like the goats, depending on how many. When in layout, the temp usually drops, they go off their feed and the pant rapidly and are restless. It's not like a goat where the just drop a kid and keep going haha If she had a few, during the last couple weeks you could watch the puppies in her tummy moving about and feel them moving. It's really cool

Cora’s body/tummy doesn’t appear to have changed, but she’s a big girl with a long back so she might just hide it well. Also, if she was only bred one time, then she may only have one or two pups. I used to breed cattle dogs, and could definitely see the pregnant belly, and late term could feel the pups moving around. If you sit with her when she’s stretched out relaxing, and rest your hand in various places on her belly, you should be able to feel movement if there are pups. Best wishes. We had large dogs growing up and my Chesapeake bay retriever always had large litters, but her sister Chola once only had a single pup, her owner thought the breeding hadn't taken because she wasn't showing anything other than lactation so he thought maybe a false pregnancy... 8 days after the estimated due date Chola had a single female puppy that was a little bit smaller than average. I looked it up. It says for large dogs typically mammary glands start to enlarge until the 45th day. Milk is not usually produced until it's a few days till the puppies come. I pray everything goes smoothly 🙏😇. May be just a couple of puppies.

I get a real kick out of the shenanigans on the farm. Here in Nova Scotia we wish that we had more snow throughout the winter and most certainly much more rain this spring. We are experiencing historic wildfires which have wiped out 200+ structures including 150+ homes in the Halifax Regional Municipality. There are two other huge fires burning in the province as well. There is a 60% chance of rain showers expected through Friday night and Saturday. We need a lot more rain than that. Your prayers are much appreciated. I bred dogs for 25 years. You should be able to feel the puppies by now if she is pregnant. They would be kicking and moving around. It also possible that she absorbed them earlier in her pregnancy but she still has the hormones to produce milk and nest.

I had a basset hound that actually had a false pregnancy. She did actually have milk too. When I took her to the vet he did do an ultrasound so we could be sure she wasn't pregnant. This was when I found out that dogs do sometimes have false pregnancies. Your baby goats are ADORABLE 😊

I had a small terrier mix who had been through several heat cycles before I rescued her. Right after her spay surgery, she started producing milk! Her body was very confused, since she had never been bred and no longer had uterus or ovaries.

They usually whelp in 57 to 60 days. You should be able to feel the babies move if she is with puppies. I would say if you can't feel any movement that she may be going to have a false labor. They can also absorb the babies. I used to breed German Shepherds

I remember in one video he gave her the pill then a few seconds later I saw it on the ground or in her dish and she walked away. I love the little bottle baby female with the speckled ears. You could call her Speckles. We had a Great Dane who had babies too big to deliver and we didn't know and kept waiting, but we waited too long and the puppies decayed inside her and she died. It could be Kora has a one or two big babies and doesn't look pregnant. If she is producing milk, I would take her to the vet just to be sure.

Have you check her low belly ? Chech both sides at the same time for movement. My brother bread his cocket spaniel to my dad's CS. Took her to the vet and had X-ray. All I saw was kibble and bits. Called the vet several time in the following month. 1- she got bigger she is a big eater. Told false pregnancy, 2- was in milk false pregnancy 3- I felt movement on both sides of her belly. Vet said it was her intestines. On day 63 she had five puppies. Took them to vet for tail docking (shortening tail) and do claw removal. Asked for money back or no charge for the face imaginary puppies. They said no.

If Cora (Kora?) is pregnant and soon to whelp, you might be able to feel the bodies of a puppy or two by feeling the underside of her belly when she is standing. My thought is that it's possible the medication didn't fully stop her heat cycle or she came back into heat a short time after the medication was stopped. But milk let-down can be one of the signs that labor is close, so it's definitely a great idea to keep a close eye on her. I don't have experience with a false pregnancy, but I would say if she hasn't had puppies within a week or if you see any concerning signs, it'd be best to call your vet. If you have a local mobile vet, that could be an option to reduce the stress on your LGD.

Grew up with a beagle mix. Sunny only came into heat every 11 months. Each time she did util she was about 10 years old she would have a false pregnancy. Just a bit of milk in her buttons. She would dig in her dog bed and dig in the carpet and make a fuzzy nest to settle in behind a chair. We just left her alone and it would pass.

I had a pure blood cocker spaniel who used to have false pregnancies. She would collect her tennis balls, cuddle them up to her belly and then have milk in her mammary glands. We finally had her spayed at 6 or 7 years old, as she never got pregnant. The vet had us watch her closely before she was spayed in case she got milk fever due to her condition. After being spayed she was much more comfortable physically and mentally.

I had a dog that had a false pregnancy and she actually got very depressed when no babies ever came. She gathered up all of the small stuffed animals (my granddaughters toys) and laid in the middle of them. We ended up giving her medicine to dry her milk up, which seemed to help her. Our dog wanted to be a momma so bad, it was actually a very sad time. Good luck Kora.

My kids Mastiff’s just had puppies on Christmas. Her milk storage by her teets got big. You could tell she was about to have a puppies. Kora looks to be in a false pregnancy, but it’s something to keep an eye on. Since your letting her go have them in a place of her choosing, it’s just a waiting game. But I wouldn’t think she looks pregnant at this point in time.

Yes false pregnancies are possible. My dog had it the week she was done with her heat cycle. Her teats swelled up but no milk. And she carried around dog toys like they were babies.

My female German Shepherd Dog has a false pregnancy every time she has a heat cycle. It corresponds to the time when she would have whelped puppies had she gotten pregnant. She has not had actual milk, but the milk glands in her groin do get slightly swollen as if they are gearing up. She also has nesting behaviors in the house - she wants to sleep in the back office, behind the recliner chair.

Yes. I had a dog go through false pregnancies a few times after her heat cycle. She wasn't exposed to a male dog either. She was an indoor poodle that just wasn't spayed in the 1970's. You should be able to feel the puppies moving at this point. Lay her down and put your hands on her tummy. She could only have one or two in there. They could be too large for her to birth without assistance. FYI. Good luck. 🤞

Usually large breed has multiple puppies however because this is her first litter and that she's still young she may only have one or two. The digging is a sign that she's preparing a den for her puppies. My dogs always chose to dig a hole somewhere to have their puppies.

I had a rottweiler named Babe in the late '80s. She had a false pregnancy. She had gained weight and bagged up with milk. on her due date she got in her whelping box panted like crazy for an hour or so but no puppies. I took her to the vet that morning and was told she wasn't pregnant. In the early 2000s I had another dog named Jade who adopted a kitten I brought home. She actually got milk and would nurse the kitten. I had never seen that before. She didn't get a lot of milk but she did produce it. Nature is awesome !

I think Cora is having a false pregnancy. If she is expecting, she may only have 1 or 2 babies because her cycle was disrupted by the drug. Kevin I had a Doberman that had a false pregnacy. She was an inside dog and never bred. She had milk and made a bed and even acted like the puppies were with her. The vet said it's not uncommon and let nature take its course and so we did. It lasted about 3wks. And she was back to normal.
