Bear in mind that Churchill was not Prime Minister in 1939, he was First Lord of the Admiralty, despite having no naval experience! He became Prime Minister in May 1940.

Interesting event, but 2 hits probably not have been immediately fatal to a Nelrod class battleship.

Nelson was hit by a single Italian 18" airborne torpedo in the mediteranian, it was badly damaged, down by 4,5 meters at the bow when it managed to get into harbour ! it was part of a convoy with lots of escorts, if alone at the time it would have been sunk by even a destroyer or light cruiser ! Anyway if hit by 2 more powerful 21" torpedoes Nelson would most likely had sunken fast, the "NelRods" had very poor TDS like most other British capital ships !

Sounds good fortune. However by May 1943 41 Uboats hit the bottom of the Atlantic. Game over..Doenitz withdrew.

Enter stage right the HEDGE HOG.The hedge hog was a radar guided mortar that was invented in 42 by the british.Once warships had them installed, it was the death nail for u- boats.

This video missed the point that the Winston Churchill look alike was a deliberate decoy, an actor of Winston, so it was more than a look-alike. Plus, actor Leslie Howard from Gone with the Wind fame, was on that plane as well. He died with the decoy for Winston Churchill.

At the Nürnberg Trials in 1945/1946 a journalist had asked a German General "what was the reason for the Nazi Germany defeat in the war? Was it the invasion of the Soviet Union?" The German General responded "No, it was the Battle of Britain that sealed Nazi Germany's defeat." So in my opinion (as with many World War Two historians) that was the ultimate defeat of Nazi Germany.
