I’ve been learning this piece since January and my downstairs neighbor, old couple that are around 80 years old, always tell me that they love the fact that the are still young people playing Chopin. It makes them feel young again. I always make sure to open my window when I play, then here them open there’s and can sometimes see both of them sitting outside listening to me play. I’m only 20 and this warms my heart that my music warms there heart. Great piece my friend, keep it up

This year there was a great earthquake in my country and then a great destruction. This eerie image was scarier than any horror movie, sadder than any drama because it was real. And a man was playing this music on a piano he found in the rubble. The sadness that grew in us, anger at imprudence, resistance to pain and most of all patience flowed from our fingertips to the piano. We experienced the movie The Pianist, this is the music that will always remain as a bleeding wound in me...

I didn’t know what that movie was until i clicked on the video. I remember watching this movie in school. My history teacher was the best teacher ever, I wish i could see him again. He treated everyone with respect, and treated everyone like an adult. He would make learning engaging and exiting for ever, and you could tell he loved what he done. If there was ever a fight between students, he could just ask the kids to stop fighting and they would listen to him; everyone respected him and would do anything he asked. I wish i could go back and have one more lesson with him.

Chopin fits perfectly because he was also a son of occupation. The russians in the previous century in poland. He went to exil and spoke often about his lost homeland, he took a jar of polish soil with him when he went to france. You can witness it in his nostalgic and melancholic compositions but also his freedom seeking ones like the heroic polonaise.
