@@HiddenSpringFarm yeah…. I think Bubbles is a drawf kitty…. I had one I called Lil’bit… she was maybe 2-3lbs tops… she lived for 10 years which is a little less than the 12-15 years they typically live if they are kept in doors… Lil'bit passed in my arms one night while we were watching a moving… it was extremely traumatic as there was nothing wrong with her that we knew of… my uncle who is a vet said that most likely from how I described what happened, she either had a massive stroke or a brain aneurysm… it was so hard on me as every cat I have ever had except for her and my Kotton Kitty has lived to be 22 years or older… Kotton Kitty had a freak accident playing with Hotch… they were best buddies and liked to play "tag." They were chase each other through the house and when one of them hit the other one, they would turn and take off in the other direction, the other one chasing them down… well, Hotch was chasing Kotton and when he reached out to swat her, his declaw caught her in the rectum and literally tore her open… we rushed her to the emergency vet and they told us there was nothing they could,do for her as her large intestine / colon has been ripped open and was not repairable… I had to put her down that day… she, along with the rest of my fur babies are buried out on the farm underneath a giant maple tree that I call our tree of life… the furbabies live in that tree now… every time I see that tree, I think of all of the furbabies that are part of it now and it always brings a smile to my face…

Hi, I'm a newcomer :) It looks like you have a great set up.. that chicken coup is fantastic. Just one thing that you may have noticed already- when Mango cat made his big leap it looked like something might have had a bit of a chew at the wiring already... on the other hand it could just be my eyesight :) Just thought I'd mention it so you can have a peek x

Welcome to the farm. You have a good eye. I did see that chewed part but only because I was filming Mango. That wire is in a spot right where the ledge is so it’s easy for them to sit and chew. That’s why I know I need to cover the easy accessible wires for their safety before I create their new space in here. I don’t want them to get zapped.

Good morning from Brownsville, the southmost city in Texas. It is 37°F, going to (hopefully) 44° today, low tonight of 27°, high tomorrow of 40°, low tomorrow night of 30°. Our average high in January is 77°! Oh, and windchills of 20° during the day. And to add to our misery, we are getting rain showers.😔 Not a day for man nor best today or tomorrow. By Thursday, our high is 77°again. Have to cover my plants tonight; I keep old sheets for just such a time. This is a subtropical area, so our green things are not ready for such miserable weather. Hope you, your darling, and all the animal on the farm stay safe and warm until spring. (I grew up in Minnesota and Wisconsin, so I know what winter is like. I much prefer living full time in Texas!😁)

Awesome video. Love all the snow that you are getting. I know it is a lot of work for you. It is a Winter Wonderland for sure. Yup... for the rabbits and it's 2 different kinds of poop they do. The one kind they eat a bit of is for the digestive system. It looks a bit different . They eat it right away! It's apparently equal to a cow chewing it's cud. Rabbits don't have multiple stomachs like a cow, so to properly digest it they need that 2nd kind of poop. You can clean your poop up, or deep bed them if you want. Mine are in deep bedding.

We sometimes ran our electrical wires through pvc pipes and link them together. I'm sure the electrical department has something similar. We learned in the ice winters in Michigan to do that. Works well. Ontario was one of our vacation spots during the summers. Beautiful camping as well as great baseball *Blue Jays vs Detroit Tigers!

Yeah but I’m not going to disconnect all the wires to run them through a conduit then reconnect, that’s a lot of work. I’m thinking to wrap some and others just install a scrap plank to cover. I miss the Don Mattingly, Dave Stieb days.

I've seen the pig's feed done this way by another farmer, and he got it from a vet school. So you're doing it right I think.

I am hoping to go way up to -4 soon. Central Alberta has had -40 for many days now. Power grid warnings daily. No school busses. Equipment struggling to start. Have to plan ahead for any future polar vortex situations where future animals are concerned.

As for your piggies….. it’s not good to feed em that food dry like that…. Then when they drink, it expands in their tummies… we always mixed it with water and immediately put it in their feed trays… but what you are doing, adding water immediately after pouring it in their food bowl should be fine as long as all of it is getting wet… give it time to do its thing before they eat it…

yea by adding that water to the pig food I believe its serving the same purpose. the reason for the water is so it doesnt expand in their stomachs so much and cause issue.

Is Stormy in the video if not what happened to her?
@HiddenSpringFarm
@HiddenSpringFarm 8 ай бұрын
Sadly Stormy disappeared along with Lovely a couple years ago, I have a whole video on it as it happened at the same time as Maggie giving birth. We think coyotes got them that’s why i started building the catio that day. Been training the cats to come back at night ever since so they are protected. I miss my Stormy she used to ride on my shoulders wherever I went.

The thing is, I’ve seen the chew damage so either mice are chewing it or the cats and if it’s a mice they must be brave doing it in a barn full of cats 😆

For your wire, get you some heat shrink wrap… the cats won’t mess with them if they are "thick" … it’s those slim ones they can bat around and chew on that you gotta worry about….
@HiddenSpringFarm
@HiddenSpringFarm 8 ай бұрын
I was thinking just to use duct tape and wrap it thick, u think that’ll work?
@ZippedUpKitz
@ZippedUpKitz 8 ай бұрын
@@HiddenSpringFarm yep…. Might use electrical tape around it first, well at least towards the ends where the wires are connecting…. Then the duct tape around every where else would do just fine …. I was just thinking about a long piece of heat shrink but yeah, duct tape would,work just as well… and it would,probably be a heck of a lot easier! Work smarter, not harder…. Right? 😃
