I use a ph pen but I normally like to keep everything at 7 except tomatoes. I add dolomite lime. 🐸

I'm rather late to comment, but (if you will plant more blueberries) another way to lower the pH is to add peat and/or soil ment for rhododendron. It can be a slow process to alter the pH in existing soil and the soil life is completly different than in natural acidic soil. When I plant blueberries, I dig away the existing soil (a square meter/plant, 50 cm deep) and replace it with soil ment for rhododendron. I add some acidic soil from our forest (where pine, fir and wild blueberries grow) in order to get some of the soil life suitable for blueberries. After a tip from a skilled gardener, I have also dug up some wild blueberries (European blueberries/bilberries, I live in Sweden) and planted them next to the bought (American) blueberries, since they contribute with the right bacteria for the blueberry bushes' roots. On top I put fir needles and bark from pine to add to the acidity and I use a fertilizer made especially for blueberries. If your blueberry bushes eventually will show themselves to be slow in their growth or give a small yield, adding some acidic soil can be helpful. Some use a mix of peat and fir needles instead of readymade soil for rhododendron.

Nice, thanks for the extra info, I may need to call upon you when that time comes. Luckily the soil is somewhat acidic already. I do have another video a year later on blueberries, let me know if I'm on the right track.

@@HiddenSpringFarm Not to discourage you, you did a nice planting, but the pH need to be 4,0-5,5 (preferably 4,5-5,2) with blueberries. As I understood it from the vid, your soil was about 6,5 in pH. I'll try to find the other video on blueberries. And I just want to say that you are doing a fantastic job with your homesteading. 😊

"High Bush" varieties grow best in colder climates, "low bush" are best for warmer climates, like the southern United States. Really called northern high bush and southern low bush. I don't think it refers to the height of the plant.

Haha I don’t know about that Donna, Highbush can grow between 4-8 feet tall depending on climate but thrive a bit warmer. There’s only a few varieties of high bush that can tolerate cold. Lowbush only grow up to 2 feet and are generally called wild blueberries ( smaller fruit but sweeter) plus low bush like the cold more than high bush. I just hope I can alter my ph level a bit. In using aluminum sulphide diluted in water and it’ll be a long slow process. Anyways I probably won’t see fruits for a couple years yet. The Canadian wild are full of low bush berries but I just didn’t want to bend down to harvest 😆 Cheers
