Well we were worried too so my wife put them right on the teat for milk and she kept doing it for a few hours. It seems to have worked cause they’re strong and even roughhousing with the bigger siblings.

The piglets grow too fast, they need to slow down so I can love on them longer. They’ll be eating real food before we know it. Altogether we got 4 containers of blueberries and they are so yummy. There is still some berries ripening too.

You sir are just an artist at work in a very proud Canadian setting! The fence is epic. The piglets are a real hoot at their size and the way they are playing like puppies is adorable 🥰 Blueberries are one of my favourite fruits. Where I live is surrounded by strawberry 🍓 blueberry 🫐 and cranberry fields within a couple of miles of each other, so I can so relate to just picked. You are so lucky to have that epic yard for blueberries!

Oh my, those piglets are precious! I really love the music you used behind the video for them! My blueberry bushes aren't producing this year and I am super bummed. Maybe next year for me. Yours look great!

Over the last three years we’ve lost 10 entire plants for whatever reason. We have 40 now and all seem ok, only half produced this year cause those are the first ones I planted. Just imagine how many blueberries we’ll harvest once they’re all producing. Too bad about your bushes, hopefully next year will be better. I’ve been adding aluminum sulphate now & them to get the soil more acidic too maybe that’s helped them.

The blueberry patch looks amazing! Reusing material is really great, and looks great. Speaking from experience, in the winter and spring time, deer and moose love to eat on blueberry bushes and can cause considerable damage (the bushes survive, but there is no harvest). To keep a moose out, the fence need to be 2 metres high. Perhaps some additional netting would be helpful.

I was shocked this year at how much of a harvest we got as I only planted these starting 3 years ago and added some every year. I’ve been adding aluminum sulphate to the soil maybe that really helps the acidity levels to get a better yield.

Down here in the US South, we can contact companies in our area that do tree services and request chip drop offs. It saves the tree company dump fees, but it may not be that often if you are far from them, they drop a huge dumpster load and they have to able to get onto your property. You also have to take whatever trees they have been working on. Just a thought for you.

Yeah I’ve heard of that here too. It’s just a matter of the right time when they’re close to your property and a lot of them here have deals to sell to garden centres. I have a wood chipper too so it’s just a matter of time.

Something you might want to consider after harvest is complete this season is to till the soil then cover it with black plastic over winter until ready to prepare the garden for planting. You will find your soil in better shape and not compacted at all and more easily fertilized and setup for planting. What happens is you do not have the continuous water compaction by heavy rains snows and freezing and thawing. Will save you a ton of work in the spring.

I have geotextile over the entire patch already. I just plan to just continue covering with mulch. I’m hoping this patch won’t need much labour moving forward.

I know it’s such a sad thing. It was a tough few days until the piglets came and brightened up my mood. I think about Stormy often as she was the sweetest thing. I miss her and I miss them all too.
