I LOVE that Hidden True Crime and Mormon Stories are getting together on this subject. You two are the most informed voices covering these Mormon cult atrocities. The Mormons aren't the only fundamentalist religious group spawning extremists - there is plenty of that going on in other repressive religions as well. But they sure are making a name for themselves these days so I'm glad there are intelligent, balanced individuals like yourselves covering this. Thank you!

And all the other researchers and people who have come forward to share with us, Anon or not. Thank you all so much for this deep understanding of wtf is happening the last few years! Thank you, Lauren, and fabulous panel. Watched an hour here, hour there- etc., etc. Found this devastingly depressing, but a story that needed to be told. I never heard of those people, ( except , of courseLori Vallow- since beginningof her/their case. A little of Jodi H. And Ruby Franke) or that book, except for the coverage it received on Lori's pool lounge chair during trial. I dreaded hearing the excerpts of "Visionz of Gory"😮. It was almost unbearable to get through it. The laughter behind the scenes, along with my outloud chuckles , actually, my pleas to the powers that be - "please, make it stop"😫😫 in sync and chimed in with all four of you took off the edge! That said, i agree, it should be denounced; if people are taking it literally and to the level of Vallow/Daybell, heinous murders especially children, Jodi child abuse and certified mind games amongst couples)instead of a creepy science fiction novel that it sounds like. Just learned the story you reported yesterday about the 16 year young " "Blaze" has been found safe, with arrests made to his mother and Uncle? That all said, altho i could never, ever be interested in that book, really appreciate you're bringing it the the forefront and shedding light on such unbelievable , strange behaviors that we know of so far and as of late, due to this book. Frightening! What's more frightening to me, are the folks who treat it as scripture - now that is really scary and so sad.😢.

Yes, Lauren is still a member of record. But having listen to every one of her podcasts from day one, I’m pretty sure she does not hold a temple recommend and attends church about once a month if that. No judgment but it sometimes can be confusing when she says she’s a member and people automatically assume that she is a faithful devout member. I’m pretty sure she is not, I listen to one of her podcasts where the night before was her birthday and her husband said she had two martinis. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t supposed to say that and she was kind of like a deer in the headlights for many seconds She did not know how to respond to that because I believe there are a lot of active LDS people who listen to her podcasts and I don’t think that would’ve gone over very well with them.

Also I saw a clip of her & Ian being served outside there hime with court docs in 2021. Well after all the gruesome details of the attempted murder of her 1st husband and the murders of Charles, Tylee, JJ & Tammy. She kept complaining she had to get the kids to school, you could hear them behind the door. Then she came out carrying a baby, I assume she had with Ian. How does this crazy lady who I believe tried to kill her children’s father, get unsupervised access to children.

no year passes without the appearance of stories which describe peoples in imaginary worlds. Visions of Glory sounds similar to The Vril Society the Nazis believed in. Vril is energy spiritually advanced, it's a kind of universal material or energy, and whoever discovers it and masters its usage will acquire great powers. Vril, the Power of the Coming Race (1870) by Edward Bulwer-Lytton is an early science fiction novel. i think both of these books authors were familiar with hindu stories and let their imagination run wild

and another just awesome awesome show Lauren!! and still so much left to be explored in regard to this book and the dynamics of the people who come under its spell ... the challenging aspect of all books of this type, as is true with in all cults ... is that it contains elements of truth that we all recognize, but it is obscure and hidden, in Heavens own language and this language most don't yet grasp or even recognize it exists, and so, if one is not careful, the information can be easily manipulated to fit ones own needs or agenda, ... in the same way people have manipulated the bible throughout the ages.

Fantastic coverage! I came back here to say that after finishing this episode I was scrolling Facebook and an ad from Angel Studios (Sound of Freedom) popped up. It was advertising a new movie coming out on October 27th called After Death. It’s a documentary about people that have experienced NDE. WTH? I wonder if it will have any parallels to Visions of Glory? I’m kind of intrigued 🤔 John - I sent you an email with a screenshot but I’m sure your mailbox gets pretty full.

This is an unfair statement. I know hundreds of LDS people and they believe nothing like this. They are people who care about families and Christ. I have no idea of why some turn extreme, but you can’t blame a whole religion on some peoples choices just as you can’t say all the doctors out there are bad just because you came across a bad one.

In 1990, my 21 year old son was killed. I desperately wanted to know where my son went. I read many of these books. I do not agree with the belief of OBE, or Near Death experience. a book by Helen Graves called Testimony of Light. An afterlife book by a nun who channeled it. Her view was similar to the evil spirits entering a drunk or inebriated, almost the same words. Her ideology of the levels (ie purgatory, etc.) the Church says happen after we die. I do not believe in channeling at this point, its like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. Thank you Forrest Gump! Sadly last year my youngest son took his life. So now it's off to research again! I'm devastated, thus vulnerable to cultish teachings! I appreciate these channels, not the same 'Channeling"!

I am so glad to find this channel. The exposures to the Mormonism subject is always good. It amazes me how many channels of evil there are. My first meeting of a Mormon was a college professor in Cali. Talk about grandiose!! I had never met such a delusional person in my young, Kansan life. It sure raised my spidey senses for the extended future.

I watched Lori’s whole trial but I hadn’t seen/heard the sentencing… and she reminds me so much of my Mom (which is kinda scary cuz she was a moderator on that online community prior to Julie Rowe getting excommunicated and says she left because the leader dude was a bully and she thought they were getting too far off LDS doctrine). I don’t understand how the judge let her say all the nonsense.. letting her speak for her dead children and Tammy.. it was infuriating.. I’m gonna have to listen to the judges comments later. But dang… it was shocking..

To Lauren's point (when talking about the connections to VoG) about Lori helping her children...when listening to her statement in court I heard her say exactly that when recounting her NDE. She said it was spirits showing her why she had to return to earth that had showed her (and she said she then knew/understood that) she needed to return to "help" her children - she said it was her mission. And all I could think was she is almost saying she knew she would one day "need" to "help" her children into their graves. I absolutely agree that she is a true believer in the VoG.

I've been following this story that seems to just keep growing since it started, my daughter was living in Rexburg at the time. I was SO alarmed when Lori would not say where her kids were, I got a really sick feeling about the whole thing! It's been a trainwreck of the worst possible kind, absolutely heartbreaking!! I have watched your channel, I noticed you got right on the Tim Ballard story.. then Ruby and Jodie! My jaw dropped to the floor as you made those connections to this book they were all reading!?! What?? I'd never heard of it. You made an absolutely correct observation that it is a group of people who desire SO much, and yet obviously fail to BE relevant in the Church so they step outside of it and try to be a bigger fish in a much smaller pond!! I agree 100% but I do not blame the Church for that! That is an individual thing, water seeking it's own level is how they've found each other, via Thom Harrison (obviously, and thanks to you for connecting the dots)! We see this behavior in every Faith though, it shows up in every cullture. It's the same stuff the uni-bomber, the terrorist, the school and public shooters are made of. It comes from a personality that feels invisible, while wanting not only to be SEEN but to be celebrated; if not that, at least to be remembered for something bigger than they. A while back I saw you teamed up with John Dehlin?? I clicked on his channel many years ago, and never made that mistake again. It was just story after story of him dissing and sneering at the Church. You know how people can leave the Church but they cannot seem to leave the Church alone? I could not stand listening to him. I only tolerated him in this segment because it is on YOUR channel, and I wanted to hear your investigative journalism and take on all of this. I like that your husband adds his psychological skillset to the conversation!! I will say, it was very interesting to learn you served a Mission in this episode, I had not guessed you had any affiliation from previous episodes I've tuned in to. It is bizarre that this weirdness is going on, and that all these weird little sub-sets are making the headlines- Lo and Behold-they are connected to each other! I had no idea such groups existed until Tylee and JJ disappeared. You should go back to reminding people these books are NOT in any way shape or form put out by the Church, members are warned not to read such garbage. Tim Ballard (and others) only name drop to make themselves feel/sound relevant.

It would be interesting to hear if there are prominent medical doctors in trouble who are connected to these teachings. Especially with Thom's ties to Primary Children's Hospital. I saw on his linked in he worked there in the 80's.

I read “Visions of Glory” several years ago when I was still an active member (though an adult convert). I thought it was “the Bullshit™️” then, and I do now, but I can’t say I’m surprised by the effect it’s had on some members, especially those in UT (I’m in CA). I’m not anti-LDS (and my husband is still a True Believer), but I can see how this nonsense can happen. I’m also still very good friends with my now-100% disillusioned RS Visiting Teacher…she had completely bought into the Church as a young teen. My husband and I raised our son in the Church, but never forced attendance; he quit going at about age 14 (he said no Seminary, Scouts, or Young Men’s for him!), and so he never fit in anyway. Plus, he’s gay. The Church upholds many solid values: kindness, respect, and duty towards others, families, self-reliance, modesty/chastity, and health/self-respect. It’s the culture (and the corporation) that’s weird. I didn’t participate with that part. I was inactive by the time Covid came around; when the Leadership pushed those experimental jabs and forced masking/social distancing, I said hell no. Anyway: I’m all for free speech, so I wouldn’t be inclined to “ban” the book, but it definitely needs exposure to criticism and sunlight! Job well done.

Hi John, now Subscriber from UK. I listened to all of Part1. As a part of the spiritual & truther community, a lot of these beliefs in the book are even being spread by non Mormons and non religious people. So I wonder, have they read this book too??? Is this where a lot of these beliefs started ref 144000 and the second coming etc. 😳 This is much wider than the Morman community 🤔
