Theory: The boy that they saw in the windows was actually murdered by the man. He was gesturing to them to persuade them to come get their cousin before it was too late. When the man came back at night (from the stories that he haunts the farm and returns every night), the boy disappeared because he was scared. The man was probably dragging along a bag containing the dead boy (explaining the putrid smell and the extra tud) and was probably trying to find somewhere to hide it.

Once when we were playing tag, my brother ran Into the forest but in the forest was this sketchy abandoned house that we never went into, when my sister and I was it we couldn't find him anywhere so we went into the forest, the mud was wet so then we could see footprints easily. As we followed the footprints we noticed it lead to the abandoned house, I said IM not going in but my sister just ran in there without thinking. A couple hours passed while I was waiting for them, I got sick of it and ran in, there was broken glass and mold everywhere and it was pretty gross. I went upstairs to find my sister and brother crying having a panic attack, I asked them what's wrong but they didn't tell me when they calmed down I asked what was wrong again but the didn't answer again, they have never told me the whole story to this day but all I know is that they say them footprints weren't my brothers and that they saw a shadow following them...

The fact that he couldn't hear his cousins calling for him nor the police searching for him (who, as they said, didn't find him when they searched that house) leads me to believe he was transferred to a parallel reality while he was in the house. Maybe this is why he didn't see anyone when he turned around, because the things that happen/the entities that live in there are only visible once you are inside. This could also explain why he can't see the blood on the stairs once he is out of the house at 5:02 but the blood is clearly there while he is still inside running at 4:51

Similar thing happen to me and my friends in an old apartment in downtown LA while I was visiting. Iremember all of us play hide and seek and I had gone between a dresser and a wall to hide with a hamper in-front of me. Then moments later I had seen a kid run in the same room I was in and ran in the closet across from me and slid the door closed while giggling.I did not recognize him at all. I stared at the closet and said “hey!” No answer. I was scared because we were in my friends apartment and only 3 other friends. Maybe someone else joined I thought. I left the room looking for my friend and told him what had happened about a little boy running in the closet. We all went back scared in the room and and opened it and no one was in there. I remember being so god damn scared especially cos me and my parents were staying in that room that night.
