HiDef: Drone Sound Testing with CSX - 08/05/14

As some of you may know, most drones don't record sound because of propeller noise, and the ones that do sound terrible. With sound tracks for my drone footage in short supply, I've been experimenting with recording sound separately from the drone and dubbing it over in post-production. So far, I think the results have been fantastic!
Here's a short clip of southbound CSX manifest train Q539 departing Knoxville after switching the yard. The sound that you hear was recorded on-site as the train departed (courtesy of my wife) and edited back over the footage.

This is excellent, the availability of drones for the amateur market opens up a new world, the amount of points to shoot from is infinite now. No problems anymore with trespassing, things obstructing the line of sight etc. There are just some rules to obey when flying your drone. In Europe they are working on such regulations, I don't know at which stage the US is concerning this. The regulations wil prohibit flying over build up area's, crowds or in the proximity of airfields, and at low height above the actual road, or railtracks and endangering/distracting drivers. This in order to keep things safe for the public and protect the privacy of people eg. in their backyards. But like you did this, flying above the river and sideways of the railroad tracks is completely safe and legal.
