I noticed the sort of 'hinged' knife the artisan uses from 7:28 is very similar to what in the west might be called a _paroir_ knife, used by cobblers.

i can tell, from 2:20, that the one-character pieces you were using in the lessons are based on "high grade". 上彫

hello, i would like to know what is the exact name, source, and origin of the 'common grade' shogi pieces shown at 2:20. i think its something akin to 'nami hori', although these are the MoST interesting shogi fonts i have ever seen, so i am interested.

Yes, I think it's possible. You want to inscribe them on your own?

Onde encontro peças com a madeira mais nobre e a forma de inscrição de mais alta qualidade, porém com estampas ocidentais? E por estampas ocidentais estou querendo dizer pictogramas. E não as iniciais em inglês.

I have a question: Can we erase the words from "Written Pieces" by sand paper, and then inscribe it again to have our own inscribed pieces?

I made my own set about 6 months ago using cyprus as the material, but my painting skills were seriously lacking as far as caligraphy goes, I'd probably get better results with trying engraving, but I have no clue where to get a good knife to carve it XD

Kiridashi make for great fine carving knives. Pretty cheap off Amazon.

I laughed at the so-called "Common Grade" Pieces, and I even read "Silver General" as "Ash General" or "Grey General"! I would rather to inscribe the pieces ON MY OWN even I have no experience in pieces crafting.

I'd buy all the cheap written pieces and sell them off as expensive raised pieces if noone can tell the difference in the end. Way to make money. :D
@3TOlym19
@3TOlym19 3 жыл бұрын
There is clearly a difference. Written pieces only have a very thin layer of ink, while in raised pieces the extra layer of ink has a much more amount that the raised-ness(?) can be easily seen. It even reflects lights. You can really tell moriage-goma (raised pieces) right away just by looking at them.
