Above all else, he truly represents the true ideals of justice that the Marines ought to aspire to, especially since we’ve seen (at this point in the story) corrupt and abusive marine officials (unlike Garp, Ripper, or Smoker). Jonathan is such an incredible person (as well as his wife Jessica)

Fun fact: Episode 199 was directed by Mamoru Hosoda. The next year he made his feature length-directing Debut with the sixth One Piece-Film „Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island“, a genuinely excellent, if unconventional (and in parts *terrifying)* Movie. Since, Hosoda has become one of Japans best known and most successful Anime-directors, even nominated for an Academy Award for best Animated Feature film in 2019.

Wow, I didn't know about this. The artstyle in that 6th movie was so distinct from the others, I loved it a lot. Wasn't it also the original idea in this movie to have luffy punch an enemy in black and white drawing that was later picked up by the anime when luffy punched a certain someone?

Robin is just doing what she has done the 20 years before joining the straw hats - she blends in. She told us so in the "job interview" she had with Usopp when they left Alabasta. And since she is a very smart girl she is very good in this. If I were to live in that world, she´d be my personal One Piece for sure.🥰

Episode 199 was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, one of the most legendary anime directors of all time, known for making some of the greatest anime movies of the 2000s and 2010s. This episode was to give him a trial run at directing one piece in preparation for the one piece movie he would direct shortly afterwards: baron omatsuri and the secret island, which incidentally is by far the best one piece movie, and the best the series has looked in an anime imo. You should watch it if you get the chance, its non canon and theres no spoilers.

The island the marine base is on is called Navarone, which is a fictional island that featured in the 1961 movie "The Guns of Navarone" (which itself is an adaptation of a novel from 1957). The arc is actually original to the anime as it was never part of the manga, and it would normally be classed as "filler" but there are too many people who want it to be canon. Love the dynamic between you two when you watch stuff. It reminds of a show we have here in the UK called Gogglebox :)

Abt the box of antlers, likely, they're ingredients for medicine (the velvet from antlers is even used today to make health supplements and has been used in traditional medicine for centuries). Deers shed and grow antlers pretty quickly, so it's easy to gather a large quantity of them.

Speaking like a guy from medicine, chopper probably has sat through or helped in a lot of surgeries as part of his training. I’d think of chopper more as a doctor working in rural areas or areas without a lot of medical support, because he’s the only doctor on the ship. Those doctors usually have to know a lot from a different areas as opposed to very specialized doctors that you find in major cities. Edit: not saying that one is better than the other - where you choose to work is usually determined by personality, circumstances, and family. Both require 7+ years of training on average.

Fun Tidbit: The reason Chopper is only assisting in surgery is because he is more skilled as a virologist than a surgeon. It's very likely he only has a surface level understanding of surgery, I doubt he got many opportunities to practice on cadavers on Drum Island. Edit: I fixed it for all the toxic fans that were mad I didn't recognize Choppers surgery skills. I'm sure our boy will do plenty of surgical procedures in the future. 🤣

Again, it's _interesting_ headcanon, but you could just as easily headcanon that Dr Kuhera straight up just takes corpses. Or maybe Lapin anatomy is close enough to human anatomy like pigs are in real life, so in a cartoon world that's enough experience. There's a dozen ways you can justify either side of "chopper did/did not do human surgery" but again, the obviously canon reality is "don't think about it".

lol, your comment about Usopp's voice after 11:00. I love that voice actor, Kappei Yamaguchi. almost 25 years ago, I was watching Inuyasha (same voice actor as Usopp) and that was about when One Piece was up to maybe 20 episodes or so. I couldn't get into OP because the animation bugged me and it seemed lame. By the time it was up to 40 episodes, I gave it another try and watched it until Usopp's arc and couldn't believe it was the same voice actor as Inuyasha's main character, Inuyasha. Talk about diversifying your acting skills/role. It was one of the reasons why I stuck with OP (And it has since been my favorite anime) and I was hooked after Usopp's arc. Luffy's voice actress also does Krillin in Dragonball which I did NOT know until maybe 15 years ago when I watched some Dragon Ball in the original voice acting. The anime voice acting is a small world. Luffy's voice actress Mayumi Tanaka is 69 years old. The best part about any of these anime voice actors and actresses is that these are all their normal voices irl. It's amazing to watch interviews with any of them but save it for later to avoid spoilers.
