Hiding Your Girlfriend From Your Family | Chicago Med

Dr. Halstead and Dr. Manning work on a refugee patient who is in critical condition but when his girlfriend shows up to check up on him she's frightened to visit he has not told his parents about her yet.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rhodes may have a new love interest and Dr. Charles' life hangs in the balance when a deranged patient loses his patience, shooting Daniel and then himself.

After this episode they get together. They stay together for most of season. Dr manning asked for a break and dr halstead cheated on her by sleeping with another woman and told dr manning. They still got back together after a few episodes, dr halstead proposes and she says yes, dr halstead almost dies, long story, he has to go into protective custody, when he gets back him and dr manning get back together, but he had a gun so dr manning broke up with him, dr manning almost tells him that she loved him but they get into an accident, dr manning got amnesia, almost gets married to ezra fitz, brokeup with him and confessed to will she loved him, he turned her down, they almost become friends again, but a patients case got them in a fight and they havent spoken since

The way Nat and Will were so Professional and worked together to solve this case. It felt so powerful and dramatic we need more Medical Case focused content woven back into Med again. There's just been so much personal life plot and blatant romance arcs lately that I miss the actual medicine, the twist and turns of a patients life that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

He was hiding it. Muslims aren't supposed to sleep with someone unless they're married. So his parent would have probably been upset if they knew their son did it. He probably wanted to hurry and marry her, so their child can be born into their marriage without the parents and his family realizing he slept with her before marriage. I think but I'm not sure.

Advising the girlfriend to go introduce herself is a disaster waiting to happen. Middle Eastern families more often than not are very reluctant for their SON to be involved with a Caucasian woman. Not always but often. And these folks look very traditional. They also have not seen their son often judging from his studies. Best is just to say she is a friend from University and slowly let things unfold. The parents will most likely have a bird first seeing their son so traumatized and now with a white girlfriend. Talking as experience as an ER Dr having had many situations similar to this episode. Doesn’t end well.

If he does well and graduates, they will be very annoyed that he has wasted his education opportunity to be in a relationship with a “white” woman. If she is educated as well, then she would not be assuming a traditional “woman’s” role in society which as a “daughter in law” would NOT sit well. Envy also does come up if HIS sisters or mother are not educated. And lastly, if he does not complete his studies for whatever reason, it would be her fault as she lead him away from his studies. Racism/prejudices comes in from many sides. Not always only light against darker - have seen it so many times!!! “He/she is not like us”, a very difficult struggle. Wait till “children” come into the picture, and roles of grandparents get triggered. Tradition is very hard to accept and very hard to change. Not saying it can’t be done, but it will be a very steep climb. Males are raised as to “why can’t you just accept the role”. Not always but the majority of time.
