HIFIMAN HE-1000 STEALTH + AYRA STEALTH COMPARISON.

Hey William, thanks to you, I purchased the HE1000 the day you posted this video and they arrived today. They're sensational in every regard. Especially comfort! Thanks to your review I felt comfortable buying them and I won't be having any regrets. Another nice thing about the HE1000 is the extra year of warranty over some of their lower-tier models! About a week ago, I owned two pairs of headphones: the HE1000 v2 and the Arya Stealth. Compared to the Arya Stealth, the HE1000 v2 exhibited a higher level of resolution, but lost out in the midrange and bass, making vocals seem distant and lacking warmth. Subsequently, I made the decision to sell the HE1000 v2 and purchase the HE1000 Stealth (v3). In a direct comparison between the HE1000 Stealth and the Arya Stealth, it became apparent that the HE1000 Stealth had similar sound quality to the Arya Stealth, but with improved resolution and detail. In addition, the midrange and bass on the HE1000 Stealth sound just as warm as on the Arya, with the bass being more pronounced in the He1000 Stealth, reducing my need to use EQ. The opposite is true for some acoustic tracks, where I tend to reduce the bass frequencies while the Arya Stealth requires a boost. When comparing the HE1000 v2 and the HE1000 Stealth, it can be stated that the latter model provides a more engaging and coherent listening experience, while the HE1000 v2, despite its advantage in spatiality, sounds relatively thinner and does not bring the same depth and enjoyment to the listening experience. For the time being, I have decided to keep both the Arya Stealth and the HE1000 Stealth in my collection to provide a collaborative music listening experience.

Another great review, William! I have the Xduoo TA-22 Class A tube amp paired with the Hifiman HE1000SE and it’s a PERFECT duo. The HE1000 Stealth paired phenomenally with the less tubey Cavalli Tube Hybrid amp. I sold the HE1000 Stealth, however, and kept the SE because the SE is leagues ahead of it in terms of everything but tuning. But you can EQ it’s tuning as the HE1000 SE takes EQ beautifully.

Appreciate the comparison. For 1399 it seems like a great deal. If I needed another planar I'd definitely consider it but I really enjoy the LCD-X and its neutral and slightly warm sound.

I have the Arya Stealth and the LCD-X and regularly switch between these two, because both have their benefits and (small) drawbacks. It might be a surprise for some, but I do find the LCD-X a bit more comfortable, despite its higher weight.

Im still enjoying my sundara's , unfortantly my geshelli amp is kinda a bit on the weak side to power them , its good but I really like my bass turned up all the way so .. lol

Been looking forward to this comparison since the original He1k vid. Since that time though, I’ve used the Hek & A/B with Arya. Personally the Arya wins out for me. The Heks are more resolving but if you listen to bass leaning genres or movies, the Hek will miss alot of the lower end & body of the audio.

I thought at first that the ARYA had a little more weight to the mid-bass, but after more listening it seemed that the mid-bass on the HE was a little tighter and on some music came across as slightly lighter.

Perhaps the introduction of the ‚Arya Organic‘ was the reason the ‚HE 1000 Stealth’ was reduced in price so significantly. In any case, the sound differences/improvements to/over the ‚Arya Stealth‘ seem to be very similar, so that the price difference between the ‚HE 1000 Stealth‘ and ‚Arya Organic‘ could not have been justified.

I have the Sundaras, and overall like them very much. Have to believe, though, that the he1000 stealth would be a significant upgrade. But, I keep wavering between these and the Audeze lcd 2 rosewood. I haven't heard either as I live in an area where that is not possible. Kind of a bright vs. dark thing to simpify the differences. It just depends on to what degree, and which is more ENGAGING....just don't know. ( having both for different flavors would probably be a lot of fun, but $$$😮😢. )

I went to Milano Hi Fidelity 2023 to try the Spirit Mistral and Titano headphones to understand how they felt at first glance compared to my Arya Stealth (which I really like). I liked the two headphones but did not perceive them as more pleasant than my Arya. Then I tried the Centauri (which however costs almost €3000) and the sensation was very good. Due to the short time and the confusion of the fair, however, it was not possible for me to really understand how it sounds compared to the Arya Stealth).

I have the Arya stealth and he 1000 stealth! Both amazing headphones but I enjoy the 1000 stealth more! I just think it’s the overall all round better headphone. So I completely agree with you. Do you listen to Electrostatic headphones? If so down the line you should do a review on the Stax SRM D50 it’s actually a dac amp combo and it’s really good

@@SupplyNinja I ordered Stealth, because I got it for 1100 EUR and it's already with 21% sales tax :D I could get SE for like 1850 EUR, but that's my months salary in eastern europe. Seems a bit too much. There are much conflicting opinions about these two, some even prefer stealth. Some say SE is brighter, some say stealth ir brighter. So I went with safest option. I plan to use it with mojo 2 (it has EQ as well) at first. As it's my first real hifi headphone, I think I will still be pleased :D Thanks for recomendations! :)

I am actually torn between the HE1000V2 (non stealth) vs HE1000 stealth. Just can’t decide between wider soundstage in the non stealth vs better low end, resolution on the non stealth

Get the stealth. While soundstage suffers slightly, the other things you gain is worth it. Bass, timbre, and Treble are better

Hello - When you said is it a big significant differences seem like HE1K SE is a def winner. I'm curious did you have to do an A/B or the sound is just night/day. From my experience with Ananda SE & Arya SE they are just night & day differences. Some say Arya is slightly better over Ananda, but I have to disagreed on that.

I would say the jump from Ananda Stealth to Arya stealth is very large. Especially in detail. The jump from Arya Stealth to HE-1000 Stealth is smaller, but still an improvement IMO. I'm currently working on my HE-1000 Stealth and HE1000SE comparison.

The $400 apart between Ananda and Arya but so the sound. If they are just slightly I don't think it worth it. P.S - I bought the Deva Pro base on your review and I found it spot on from A-Z.

@@denis4072 To me the HE-1000 Stealth is a little better in several ways compared to the ARYA Stealth. Not night and day. The biggest difference is a wider soundstage.

I saw the HEK Stealth refurbished on the hifiman store is $1209. Would you recommend it? Or better buy it brand new for $1399?

I bought the stealth refurb direct from hifiman. After promo is 1110, or 1149 before promo. They shipped it in a plain box, not even the hifiman sticker. It came with the foam headstand and 2 cables, 3.5mm and 6mm, the cheap medical tubing type, no balanced xlr cables. Pretty good savings, I wouldn't mind new if it came with a fancy box and xlr cables. It tests when I run it through sweeps and headphone tests. I already have balanced xlr cables from my focal clear, it works great with these. I had to EQ them to reduce the slight harshness in the high end. I used oratory1990 eq settings, which also raised the mids a bit around 1250 or something, I felt the mids were a bit recessed as well. They sing well with good sources and will tell you if it's a bad source. The headphones are very revealing so if there are poorly produced tracks or low quality sources, it makes it obvious. I wish I had the the V2 to compare to this one because so many people seem to like the V2 and crinacle ranked the V2 in tier S over the he1000se which is tier A on his site.
