That headband and a cable that's not detachable at this price point is unforgivable

The headband, I agree with. The cable, not so much since it's an e-stat. There's a significant enough risk of destroying the driver due to the voltages involved that swapping cables is a bad idea.

Heard this at CanJam and was kind of blown away. The best price-to-performance value I think I’ve ever heard.

Excellently done, Wave. Thank you very much. Not just a review of this set but an enquiry into ( really well considered ) alternatives and what these bring to the ears. I also appreciate that you checked out how the energiser and the electrostatic ear speaker sounded separately. I was hoping you would review this product and I was more than satisfied. Cheers.

So many interesting models to test. The new high-end Grado, The new Dan Clark cans and more from the unveiled section of Hifiman.

I almost want to send you some custom pads or put you in contact with NtraX Mod Design. The custom pads I ordered from him totally transformed the Mini Shang for me. Literal night and day difference for the better, maybe the biggest jump in technicalities and capabilities I've ever heard from a pad swap.

I just ordered the SECOND electrostatic headphone on my wishlist. This was the FIRST one on my list. Reverend Dr. Thomas, ✝️ The Vegan Vicar 🌱

Seems like Hifiman has massively improved its old Jade (2) model. The problem is always the niche all-in-one system with an estat. Can't swap the headphone out easily to anything else besides an estat so the upgrade path is limited. I think with the current very resolving planars there is not that much of a need for going into that direction, it's just hard getting into and out of... Great review!

On the Lampizator, how do the HE1000 Stealth and Arya Organic fare? Are they flipped about the Shang Mini and are below the Shang as the Shang is to the HE1000se?

One day...I don't know when that day will come, but one day Hifiman will get rid of that accursed headband.

I certainly hope so. 😢

They sell the headband separately, which is unbelievable for a 1.1k headphone 🤦

I’d have to get those Dekoni Nuggets for this one like I had to for my Edition XS

No. Those that have it are in the minority IME.

They sound lean... Unless you use a tiny bit of equlization Preamp: -3.9 dB Filter 1: ON LSC Fc 70 Hz Gain 3.0 dB Q 0.900 Filter 2: ON PK Fc 2000 Hz Gain 4.0 dB Q 1.400 Filter 3: ON PK Fc 4500 Hz Gain -5.0 dB Q 3.800 Save it as a .txt file, open in Peace, enjoy a calibrated, studio level of balance, with electrostatic precision. The preset was made simple to preserve the natural character of the headphones. You can adjst the gain on the first filter to change the level of bass.
