I've talked with a lot of guys in the military, and most of them agree that between plates or a helmet, a helmet is more important. Your head is what you expose when returning fire, or when scouting and it only takes a glancing blow to kill from an AK. Also protects your head in general from a bad fall or large debris.

Most dudes in the infantry level know nothing about armor all my vet buddies think there base kevlar helmet will stop rifle rounds it absolutely will not . A PC is more important because it actually works . Helmets hold your nods and protect against handguns that no one is using in a war zone. Afghanistan sure the most threats they faced were IEDs so the frag protection was awesome but for bullets nah your helmet is almost useless unless a couple hundred yrds away at an angle

Grunts get told what to do and say yes sir and beleive the shit they are told at face value . As a civilian they trip because I know more about their gear and weapons than them and fix their civilian guns . Because I have the free time to study and read what I want not just be told some BS from NCO that doesn't know fuck all either .

As a poor i did the ax-14 from noisefighters and put that on a rhino 2 with the mod armory dovetail converter. Not to expensive, dovetail is great and the ax-14 arm offers allot of adjustment that gets your 14 out of your face when driving WL or switching eyes quickly for passive aim.

I have those Peltor Sport 500's, they are very nice if you don't need to wire into a radio. The only downside is that they are black, but you can get cordura rangerwraps for them for $25 and make them FDE, Coyote, or MC, take your pick. The enhanced hearing works great, and you can play some music over bluetooth.

I got a knockoff G24 mount and it has held up well. I’ve used it enough to where I can justify getting it because it was like 100 bucks compared to the real one that’s like 400+. I went Amazon on my helmet cover and mohawk style counterweight

More reason to get a helmet before a plates: Use cover, if shit hits the fan you should be using cover, but you'll still have to look up to figure out whats going on. Have a dome when that happens.

I have a real and fake one. The fake one is pretty decent. Definitely locktite the screws on the fake one maybe for a pvs14 it’ll be great. I got binos and it’s just a bit heavy but I’d give it a 7/10 compared to the real g24. But the quality is so much better out of the real one. Just remember that.

Night vision is the 2nd best super power after being able to stab that thing way over there with this little pew seed. Grew up with guns, never into the real tacticool stuff. Have pistol and rifle plates, because the world went a little crazy for a bit there and it just seemed like, "People are freaking out about toilet paper, if just in time delivery fails, I want may family to be protected going to the store, so there's a set of 20$ airsoft carriers with IIIa inserts", and then there's the "well crap the dollar lost it's reserve status and starving people are doing desperate things plates." I just got into the NV club within the last few months. I figured I was gonna LARP with my friends in the woods, and that's fun, but just star gazing with a mid grade elbit tube is awe inspiring. I hope before people are forced to pick them up for defense reasons that they get the chance to just look at the sky on a clear night.

So as head protection is so important, why is basically everyone going with high cut helmets as opposed to low cut helmets with in-ear electronic hearing pro as this will protect a larger portion of our heads? I cant find anyone talking about this.

So, Thats a good question but hard to answer. High Cuts allow the use of better/different headphones like Comtacs and get to utilize arc rails to mount the ear pro and flashlights etc. You can also lift your ear pro up when not shooting and get some air on your head/ears so its alot more comfortable. If your a swat guy maybe keeping the ear protectors is a good idea but for someone like me id prefer my helmet to be more customizable and comfortable. Cant go wrong with either though.

What do you recommend for getting an ACH off ebay? I ideally want to spent no more than $200, my problem is when offers seem too good to be true. Either it's chinesium and therefore very questionable quality, or the seller doesn't provide me with the original papers or anything certifying the helmet is NIJ certified or actually ballistic capable, therefore if its not what it claims to be you're fucked if u need it and it fails on you. I appreciate your input.

@@somerandomdude5638 From researching it looks like most helmet covers will fit with a bit of wiggle room, you just need to tighten it down. I would find one you like and send an email to the company, I can guarnatee they will be able to tell you.

Dont get a x300 for your helmet get a M340 vampire with white and IR tighter profile to helmet and a white light only on a NV set up is a waste of limited real estate

Good video, but please stop telling people they can get an ACH for 50 bucks lol. I know a year does a lot to prices but even a year ago a 50 dollar ACH was rare. A more realistic common price point in March 2024 is 175-225 depending on condition and add ons.

Absolutely not wrong. You can find them online for $100-$300 but dont discount going to thrift stores and finding an ACH's for $50. I got mine for free and my friend found one for about $50 so it is possible. Albeit unrealistic.

@@ArmadilloArmament Cheap for nv yes. But no nv is cheap in absolute terms. $1800 could also buy a Colt AR-15 A4 plus a Glock 19. Don't get me wrong, the video is still good and all the points are valid. It's just that even the cheap night vision still isn't cheap and there's really no way around that it seems.

@@FinalLugiaGuardian Having a solid rifle and pistol setup is absolutely vital. I think after that getting into nods can be beneficial. And getting into nods for only about $1800 is pretty great. You make great points though and HOPEFULLY digital nightvision will scale up and reduce the price of analogue or be cheaper than analogue. Well see though...
