Yeah I mean I’ve had both a Wilcox and knock off G24 mounts and the two knock offs I’ve had have held up better than one of the Wilcox mounts I had lol not saying that’s the norm cause the knockoffs range from 20-30 bucks up to over 100 and I do think that matters as there are levels off knock offs. I understand that doesn’t make sense cause knock off is knock off right? But it’s true

For good a "knockoff" Wilcox mount, I recommend the Argus LWNVM (lightweight night vision mount). It's $150 and has solid lock-up, and has a breakaway feature with adjustable tension. I personally find it better than my issued rhino mount. For those wondering, it does work really well with the Noise Fighters AX-14 arm.

+1 for the ballistic helmet. Combat is a full contact sport. if you are playing on a two way range you have to protect against ballistic threats. For everyone who says the weight isnt worth the sacrifice... duck down behind cover...now peek out with your rifle...have your buddy look at your tactical profile (what part of you is sticking out?)...seems your head is a large portion of what's actually exposed. Now, as to the "they'll only shoot me in the face" crowd... get down in the prone...repeat having the friend look...suddenly the top of your head is exposed. And just for fun...try to imagine that your two way range also has height...now enemies will take shots from above and to the sides. Short answer...if you need plates, you need a real helmet.

@JadedJet Hmmm? Perhaps? FWIW I served four tours of combat. And, the way things are going we may see some of that here in the states if we can't find some peaceful solutions soon. That said, yes there are times when helmets in combat are a hindrance. Better for folks to learn to use them first...and then with some experience...to take them off when advantageous.

After watching dozens of videos I ended up getting a Guard Dog Fast NIJ 3A Helmet ..Mounted Walker Razors on Peltor Mounts and use digital night vision... None of this would even be considered entry level but it all works in a SHTF situation for around $900 and I can spend money on food supplies, ammo, guns, body armor and a place to bug out to. I also might have dropped a few $K and on a high end thermal mounted to a 6.5 Creedmore : ) ..Priorities!

Unless you're investing almost entirely in US military surplus equipment more than likely something you're wearing is going to be glowing under direct exposure to IR light. Personally I think that's a bit of a over exaggerated concern.

Here's the problem with being anti bump helmet: A balistic helmet other than holding your nvgs and comms/ear protection is worthless. Why? If a bullet is going to hit your head, its most likely going to enter your face, which is unprotected. Whats another name for a kevlar helmet? Brain bucket. Second, rifles been piercing ballistic helmets easily at distance. Id rather run around with a bump helmet for the same functionality and weight savings. And most people don't die from headwounds. They're dying from shrapnel and multiple bullets to the torso and and thighs. Fun fact: Where did the bump helmet originally come from? Track vehicle CVC helmets to protect the head of the driver and crew in APCs and tanks, not Special Operations.

If only there was something people wore that generally protected them from lethal head wounds and trauma even if it didn't cover their entire face... perhaps it would be a leading reason as to why there weren't so many lethal head shots... if only such a thing existed...

@@Grimm0351 I wore helmets in the infantry, so you attempt at sarcasm affects me nada. And what threat are you expecting to face? Artillery rounds while on your way to 7eleven? Even so, the helmet isn't saving you, because it doesn't protect you from the concussive blast and shrapnel is more prone to hit your legs and torso. You don't know that, because you've never served other than bug burgers from McDonalds.
