I really like when you try stuff outside your comfort zone and demonstrate the trial and error process of an ambitious build. Gives the videos a "how to be a builder" feel, instead of just "how to build this thing".

I enjoyed this series. I don't think you should do videos like this all the time but going back and forth from quick build videos to a longer build series let's you do the following 1 - You get to go into more detail about certain things like how to use the proxxon more effectively. 2 - It let's you tie more things you do into one large build. 3 - Shows what goes into larger builds and how to deal with setbacks. 4 - It keeps me atleast wanting and waiting for the next video.( Even though I already do that but it makes it harder to say I'll watch the video later lol ).

I'd agree with this assessment. It's been a really fun series to watch, very informative and inspiring... But for the most part, I'm likely to get more direct use out of the smaller projects. 🙂 Still nice to have the occasional reminder though of what's possible if I really wanted to dump a bunch of time into a big project

Agreed! From time to time long project is nice but 60hrs is not good for your mental health if you keep doing this. Small projects are good, you are good at it, and we are less frightened to try out. Anyway that Frostgrave project was really well done and enjoyable to watch. Hope we gonna see some picture or video of your next game with minis and terrain on it.

Oh there is no chance of this type of project becoming the normal. I just want to gauge if it's a nice change of pace every once in a while. For a long time I limited myself from doing complicated long builds because I was afraid it might not do well for videos to drag things over a few videos. It's just nice to know I can do it if I want to build a certain thing that will take longer.

What I like most is that when you mess up you leave it in the video and tell us about it, and talk about ways to fix it or get around it. I have messed up a LOT in crafting and given up on projects because of it. This was VERY well worth watching. These four episodes are probably in my top ten favourite videos from you easily. In addition to the crafting details, it was good to hear about the amount of time & money it took. Both to give tabletop scenery sales some context on parts/labour AND to help plan on whether it's worth it to us crafters doing it ourselves.

I figure a year+ out there's not much chance of you seeing this, but I really appreciate that you show your mistakes and false starts, and I really appreciate your attitude of "that didn't work, let's fix it and try again." Like, even when you're visibly tired and frustrated. SEEING a very competent person both screw up and keep going is honestly so encouraging to newer crafters. You make all this seem possible by, ironically, not always getting it right first try. Thanks for showing that. Really appreciate it. I'm starting my first project this weekend!

I like both formats. This one gave insight into you as a crafter/creator which is some of the appeal to me as someone who enjoys sitting down and watching a personality over the internet. However, your short form voice over tutorials are great since I have sat down and started crafting myself. Those offer quick insight into your process and method and I find after watching I can scrub through to get to the parts I need when I need it. I know I would watch a vlog channel for short daily/every other day updates/outtakes/game talk.

I do like this video style. It’s more like realistic discovery that every creator goes through. If something doesn’t work - the lesson is just as helpful. The parts of your board that had to be redone or completely reinvented were honestly more encouraging than you might think. New materials, new techniques, new template ideas all have to gel to get the product just right. It was worth the time and experimentation.

I think this was an awesome project to follow. It's always great to see what you can accomplish with a variety of different techniques and materials, I like that you change it up. And that goes for the amount of time spent as well, with longer projects you can do some really epic things which also keeps stuff fresh. Personally I enjoy watching people craft things they're passionate about because the end results look so good, even when it's something I'll probably never have time to do myself - like this table. It's still nice to see how to go about it, and possibly break it down to projects I myself will be able to do. Keep up the good work man! Hope to see some pictures, or maybe even a "mood" video, showing this table ready to play a game though! :)

I don't mind longer video series like this. The skills you used, as well as the problems you encountered and solved, are transferable to other projects. Obviously one-video projects can do that as well, but a larger series gives you more time to go in-depth with what you're doing. Like others in the comments section, I think a mix of both video types is great.

Huge builds like this almost require it to be split into four pieces. I think it was awesome to see all the little things that went into it. It didn't feel rushed and since it wasn't one huge video, and was easy to sit through. (not saying I don't REGULARLY watch hours worth of BMC in a day... because I do). I love your stuff, man. Before going back to school your channel inspired me. I think it was either the shoutout Drunkens and Dragons (now Runehammer) gave you or the boat build (which was AMAZING) that totally got me into building everything for my d and d games. I second Brian Holland's comments below. I believe its very helpful to show that getting a great product is often trial and error ( another factor in the cost of premade terrain) and making mistakes are what grant you the experience for future builds. I support the concept of mixed projects, both larger and smaller to give the depth to anyone's terrain inventory. Modular pieces are invaluable, as well as unique pieces and part of what makes them look so great is having an amazing foundation to set them on, like this (Brrrr!) great snow board set. I encourage you to continue with the 'worts and all' approach and thank you for sharing your experience and learning with us. Cheers

"Lets talk about the elephant in the room" -me, Yeah Where in the world are you going to store all... "How much did it cost?" -me, ohh yeah I guess I'm curious about that too. As far as the video goes and how I like it; I thought all in all it was great. It was a lot of fun watching you work your way through a large project and displaying the successes and pitfalls along the way. I had no problem with the longer form or multi part nature of the series, and the final project looked fantastic. Things I would like to see done differently or recommendations for long form videos like this in the future: -Frustration: It was very clear that there was a time constraint on this project, and that the amount of time it was taking was frustrating you a bit. I recommend taking a project like this and really taking some time and spreading it out. With one video a week working on a large project like this you could really get into it, and It would provide loads of content. (3-6 months) -Techniques: I would love to see you take your time and dive deeper into more of the techniques you use. For instance, in this video (pro) You spent a couple min explaining why you cut the Expanded foam right side up, and not upside down on the proxxon, and why you could not use a knife for the technique. (con) You glossed over the box jig and why it was necessary or how/why it works? - Trial and error: I spend a lot of my time trying something, finding out it doesn't work, and then trying it a different way. I'm sure most of us do including yourself. In a long form series like this, I would enjoy watching as you go down a less optimal path, and then finding out why it doesn't work, and your thought process as to how to improve. -Product description: I know you come from a building background, but for me I feel like you glossed over the joint compounds and finishing compounds you were using. Would have loved to hear more. Lumped into this one, I would have liked to see a dummy black colored board used for the different snow textures. I was really interested in that as it relates to a project I'm currently working on. It was kinda washed out with the white on white. Hope you don't see the above as a negative. It's quite the opposite. I would love to see a deeper dive into SOME of your projects. Would make for a great series I think. Keep on crafting bud, and stay warm up there.

This... is an absolutely wonderful modular setup for miniature games. It can be used to simulate any kind of winter-ish terrain and can be used for all kinds of tabletop games if you choose. The smaller sections can be used in D&D for large rooms or even as the basis for an RP encounter in a town while expanding it out can cover from a skirmish in a wargame to practically apocalypse-level play for games like WH40k. While I love seeing projects and the methods used to complete them, I also know it's good to have stuff that can be completed... relatively quickly. A mash up of bigger projects and many smaller ones seems like a great idea because I know that seeing such a big project can feel a bit daunting to people who've never tried to do it before. It takes great innovators like yourself to make that less-trodden path more well-known.

I definitely enjoyed the series. I also like the voice-during instead of the voice-over. Talking during the build just seems more personal and engages me in the videos more. I'm super interested in the board you've got there, because it could just as easily be used in normal tabletop gaming sessions.

I loved this series! The longer format was nice but I also love the speed builds and shorter format as well. All in all I just really enjoy your content!

This series was awesome. It inspired me to get started on my own board to finally put something nice under my wyrdscapes buildings.

Best byfar and I have seen a few. Love how natural you’ve been in this series, how engaged you seemed and how interesting and educational it was. There are things I like about your channel / style and some that I don’t, but this was a blast to participate in.

I wanna have this thing too, I love the pattern of the stone ground and think a gaming table with the black outside without snow would look so luxury too

Few things. 1. per section/whole project, totally worth it. It would cost soooooo much more to buy these premade. 2. I built a massive tavern for D&D per the DM request finished it the day we're supposed to meet up and SNOW canceled us. So I feel your pain. 3. It looks phenomenal and can't wait to use some of those techniques in my next craft.

Honestly, with some of the plastic board tile pieces out there, I think you ended up with something better and more useful for years to come.

I don't build gaming things. I am a dollhouse person. But I always learn a lot by watching what you do. For instance, I could use the snow hill techniques to build seasonal scenery for my dollhouse surround. Also I have changed how I do fireplaces entirely based on watching you work with XPS foam. And now the ones I make are not nearly so heavy, thus lightening up the overall weight of a dollhouse. And I may even try silicone molds and resin at some point. (I am circling that issue still.) I really like watching an entire in depth difficult project like this for a number of reasons. For one thing, I usually have no idea how long others take to do things, so I always think I am very slow. (But not really, apparently. It just takes that long.) I also like seeing where things went wrong and how you corrected them. Very useful for us to avoid those mistakes, but also again, good to see that things do not always work out immediately for other hobbyists either. Finally, I just really like watching people work. And I like that you tell us when you are tired, frustrated, bored etc. All very human and again, something I can empathize with. Thanks for sticking with this long project for us.

That's great! I love hearing people finding help in my videos for other things....doll houses, dioramas, fairy gardens, etc. It's great how much of the techniques overlaps between hobbies. Thanks for watching and for the feedback.

I like both video formats, and its good to mix up large projects and small ones. So keep doing what inspires you, it's fun to watch either way. I really appreciate that you keep to your schedule! I woke up poured my coffee and was like, "It's Friday time for some BMC before work!!"

I REALLY enjoyed watching this series, I think it would great if you did a larger project like this every 3 months or so. I would have liked to have seen a wide angle shot of the entire board and some examples of different configurations. Also an example setup with buildings, miniatures, etc to really motivate me. Not that I really need a lot of help with something like this. Job well done sir!

One of the really cool things you could do with this modular terrain too, is having a big ol' snowhill in the middle of the cobblestones. Since you have approximately six transition pieces, if you did a 5x3 battle grid with the setup of Cobble, transition, snow, transition, cobble... it would be a cool snow-hill that the different sides are fighting over rather than a basin that you currently have it set up as. :D

I thoroughly enjoyed this video series and style, but I am looking forward to you returning to smaller projects and the tutorial style. Ultimately I watch your videos for your enthusiasm in sharing your ideas, techniques and discoveries. I really like the tile set as well. Hope to see it in a video all set up with the additional terrain pieces.

It was a bit long, but I enjoyed most of it. Narrative can get a little long-winded sometimes, but it's still relevant information. I usually watch these videos on x2 speed. All that being said, these videos have inspired me to start repainting toys and similar things. I've only done a couple so far, but I hope to do more in the future! Love the channel's content.
