Very nicely done on such an iconic miniature. As long as you're happy with your progress then nothing else matters. Your metals are definitely getting way better, From a personal choice I much prefer the old paintjob, just because I like the inner cape colours better, I think on the new one there's too much blue, but I can fully understand the choices made. Great work as usual, love your content.

I wash minis in the sink a lot. But I also have a big wire strainer that I stick in the sink first. It has made quite a few saves.

Nice one, mate. Never owned this mini, but I fell in love with it as a child in the early 00s reading a WD which featured a battle report between High Elves and Dark Elves with Eltharion facing off against a Dark Elf character. That pose and the whole theme of the blind swordmaster are so iconic.

While I don't dabble to much in GW stuff these days, my last go (trying 8th edition 40K after 10-15 years off), I found immense enjoyment in eBay rescues. Most of my rather substantial Eldar army was eBay rescues, and I love documenting them, and seeing a dirty, grimey, painted-by-a-six-year-old metal minis getting a second chance at seeing the table - particularly when using minis from the early 90's. To imagine a simple $3-4 blister pack mini would be rescued thirty years later and see the table top again...that's some bang for your buck!

This model was one of my white whales for a long time. Finally got my hands on it a year or two ago. He's still waiting to be painted up with the rest of my high elves, but that's because I hit a warhammer fantasy burn out phase near the middle of this year. I'm working more with my mutant chronicles figures now as a palate cleanser for the rest of this year and will try doing something fantasy in the new year, likely the elves now after this video! Regarding your solution to smoothing over rough surface texture on old metal models another solution is to make a surfacing wash with Miliput, it's water soluble and will fill in those imperfection as well as leave a nice, sandable, surface to work with. Miliput also combines nicely with greenstuff(kneadatite) for sculpting, combing the best of both compounds for your needs.
