1500 dollars for a product you use for 4-5 years and can sell on for 20-25% of the original price at the end, isn't that much. You need to re-calculate the price to a monthly write off. This is somewhere near 25 dollars a month. That's roughly the price of a very cheap gym membership, or having a couple of beers in a pub once a month. If you don't have the money required then anything is expensive but that's all relative. The average gross monthly salary in the US is 3.5 times the cost of this PC.

The problem is that with the GPU price scalping that went on a couple of years ago, NVIDIA know that people will pay high prices for GPU’s, I don’t think we will ever see sensibly priced GPU’s ever again

I would have considered going with the 6950xt since you can get some of them new for $600 as well. Not as many in stock anymore, but if you have the budget, might want to grab one.

The 6900 xt with some slight undervolting and ram tweeking is very close to the 6950 xt. My 6900 xt scores 21200 in Timespy pulling about 270 watts, the 6950 xt scores about the same out of the box with most models. If you can get one cheap enough and spend a little time cleaning up settings its a great card.

@@RegazozoGaming I only brought it up because you can still find the 6950xt for around $600 new and they were talking about a $600 used 6900xt. Both are good options, but if I had that budget, I'd want the new card, not the used one if the price isn't all that different (though honestly, at this point, I'd likely spend $500 and get a 7800xt if it were me)

I got my asrock Formula Oc 6950xt a year ago for $650 from micro center new. Got it clocked to 2750mhz game clock and 2400mhz on the memory. It’ll hit 70c in some games. Pulls almost 400 watts

I play on a 1440p monitor with a 5800h 3060 laptop (paid 550$ second hand) and I have no issues playing starfield/hogwarts at over 60 + fps medium and 100-150 fps in esports games.

@@OlaftheGreat If you’re gaming in 1440p then your best bet is most likely AMD since they’re more mature and implemented in games than Intel Arc. I’ve also seen 6700 XT’s go for around $250-$280 on the used market, so you’re most likely getting better price to performance with the 6700 XT.

This is still like a 2k plus system in canada lol. I built sort of budget this year with a 5600 and a RX6800, all in on the system i was out 1200 bucks. And i feel like thats still pushing the budget to more expensive then affordable lol

Ok I live in Canada and I recently built a 400 dollar pc build Ryzen 5 3600 and a rtx3060 12 gb used for 200 , all my parts were used a bought from Facebook marketplace, I believe if u put the time and effort u can get a budget build , a Rtx 3060 12gb is like about 30% slower than rx 6800x but I am looking at 3 times the cheaper cost ,so it is a win win situation for me .

@vik9481 fair enough, and I've seen quite a few cheap 3060s, just wasn't a card I wanted. In toronto, they usually go for like 250. I paid 500 for my 6800, and I felt that was worth it. I built this system around 1440p gaming, and so far in COD MW3 at 1440p, mostly max settings, im getting on average 150fps. I'm happy with that

I've been using a Vetroo 360 for over 2 years and it has worked great for me, this actually looks a lot like my build except I only have a 6600xt and I used an antec case which I love. Just looked at the price on the cooler and dang, I paid I think 89.99 when I got mine... Also the case is too expensive

I bought a RX 6900 XT as soon as it dropped to $600, for that price it gave better performance than the 4070 and was much better priced than the 7900 XT and XTX. If only I'd had another $400 available, maybe I'd have gone with the 7900 XTX, but for $600 this was hard to ignore.

6900xt is an under rated card. A streamer I know was using a 6900xt and 5900x combo playing warzone and constantly we would see question like. How the hell is your FPS so high? I've tried everything on my 3080 and can't get my FPS even close to yours.

toasty psu right there 750watt for a 6900xt and a 7700 god damn i wouldent even use a 850w on a 6900xt them transient spikes are gonna eat that psu for breakfest! if it was a 6950xt i would maybe consider using a 850w with a slight UV but never a 6900xt on a 750watt

So I'm struggling with making my GPU upgrade decision and trying to max out matching a GPU with my current 650w PSU. I noticed that your GPU choice's specs indicated a required 850w PSU, but you built this system using a 750w. Is this something to highly consider and at what point (% above spec) should I set the limit?

the 6900 xt pulls around 300 watts, so if your cpu pulls around or below 250 watts then you can pair the 6900 xt with a 650 watts psu.

You have at least two decent options: Either buy a bunch of used stuff (lots of great budget build videos to watch on that topic), or make a new build with a Ryzen 5600G/no GPU/decent PSU for ~$400, save up more money over time, and get something later like an RX 6600-6700XT or RTX 3060 (Ti). The 5600G will chug but it is still better than nothing and it’ll be all new parts
